Formby Live 2011!!!
FROM Friday 8
July until Sunday, 10 July 2011, the 3rd Formby Live took place in
Formby Village. Woodward’s, The Gallery, Cafe D' Art and the Formby
Pool sponsored and played host to the music project.... The event
had many local acts performing at the venues including the likes of
the Night Parade, The Anchormen, Marc Kenny, Me and My Cousin and
Stuart James Swing to name just a few. We joined the festivities on
Sunday at the Formby Pool as the Mersey Cats provided a stage
outside the complex for a live concert, and including a wide range
of local musicians, singers and bands who delivered high quality
performances. Amongst those performing was Range High School, but
sadly Formby High School was unable to attend. The day not only had
good music, but also not one but two dance displays, with a Zumba
Dance demonstration and Belly Dancing; plus a BBQ buffet, instrument
stalls, and a bouncy castle for the younger members of the audience!
Well done to all who took part and a very special well done to Pat
and her committee who co-ordinated all the groups. Let’s hope 2012
will see this event returning even bigger and stronger still. Click

ORANGE
LODGE - ANNUAL 12TH JULY CELEBRATIONS / PARADE
SOUTHPORT was the location again for the
annual Battle of the Boyne Parade. This year was the 321st
Anniversary and the members of the Loyal Orange Institution from
Liverpool and surrounding area's held their annual 'twelfth'
celebrations, that commencing with a thanksgiving service on Sunday,
10 July at St Georges Hall, in Liverpool, followed by the visit to
Southport on Tuesday, 12 July 2011. "The Orange Institution is
a family based organisation, and we hope that the celebrations are
enjoyed by both those taking part and the spectators. It is always
are hope that the public will enjoy the spectacle of the many
marching bands, and in particular the children's lodges who will be
on the parade, some in period costume. The Civil and Religious
freedoms established, for ALL during King William III's reign have
served this country well for over 300 years, and the parade reminds
us of this." said Steve Kingston Deputy Provincial Master.
