WSR Recycling
Launches Free Appraisal Service for Site Waste Management in the
North West
WSR Recycling, one of the
UK’s most forward thinking waste processing specialists, has
launched a new appraisal service that will support North West
contractors in maximising cost savings as part of the mandatory Site
Waste Management Plan (SWMP) process. Aimed at companies with an
outline plan in place, WSR Recycling is offering a free review to
help identify opportunities to further improve recovery rates and
ultimately minimise costs on site. In England, all
construction projects worth more than £300,000 must have a SWMP in
place. Although the SWMP is a mandatory requirement for these sites,
effective planning and intelligent design can translate into
tangible time and cost savings; both while the site is operational
and post-completion. To help North West contractors capitalise on
these benefits, the new appraisal service delivers free access to
the expert team at WSR Recycling, who will undertake a brief desktop
review of initial plans to identify additional areas for
improvement, including waste type, times/dates and tonnages, as well
as providing guidance on the ‘Design out Waste’
process.
Mark Trousdale, Managing Director for WSR Recycling, comments:-
"The construction industry is acutely aware of the need to
improve waste management. This is just as much driven by the
associated costs as it is by legislation, which is why effective
SWMP can pay dividends. However, we’ve recognised that companies,
particularly those working at the lower end of the threshold, do not
always have the time or in-house expertise to realise the full
potential of the cost savings. By offering the appraisal service, we
are enabling companies throughout the North West region to refine
their processes and will continue to work with them as the plan
evolves throughout the project."
From its state-of-the-art C&D (Construction & Demolition) plant in
Widnes, Cheshire, WSR Recycling manages over 100,000 tonnes of waste
a year with an impressive 90 percent recovery rate. Underpinning
these waste processing operations is a dedicated construction
consultancy team that has proven experience of undertaking on-site
waste audits and developing commercially sound SWMPs. To benefit
from the free appraisal service provided by this team, companies
simply need to submit a copy of the initial draft plan to WSR
Recycling, who will review and provide indicative areas for
improvement.
Operating in the industry for over 80 years, WSR Recycling
understands the waste management challenges facing construction
companies and can translate these into firm financial benefits,
particularly when engaged from the early stages of a development.
Mark explains:- "The earlier we’re involved on a project the
better. Experience has shown us that the highest cost savings and
efficiencies are realised when waste is considered at the planning
stage. Waste, and its effective management, are an integral part of
construction programmes these days and as such, needs to be higher
up the agenda."
Meeting the waste management needs for construction companies and
Local Authorities across hazardous and non hazardous waste streams,
WSR Recycling provides a competitive and highly professional
service. For further information please visit:-

MERSEYSIDE Police
Detectives who are investigating a fatal shooting, of 25 year old
Kevin Anthony Gott, in North Liverpool and a second firearms
discharge nearby on Tuesday, 30 September 2011, have seized 2 cars
for forensic evidence.
A silver Ford Focus was seized from Larkhill Lane, Liverpool, close
to where several bullets were found on the ground following reports
of gunshots. The Focus has under gone forensic examination along
with a blue Ford Mondeo which was found in the early hours of
Wednesday, 31 August 2011, in nearby Hedges Close.
Mr Gott, who was from Anfield, had been found lying in the street by
Police Officers called to Brayfield Road at 10.10pm, on Tuesday, 30
September 2011. He was taken to hospital with head injuries, but was
pronounced dead on arrival. A post mortem examination confirmed Mr
Gott died from a single gunshot wound to the head. Only 5 minutes
earlier, Merseyside Police had been called out about gunshots, that
had been heard in the Larkhill Lane (L13) area of Liverpool. On
arrival Police found evidence of a firearms discharge, but no one
was injured according to Merseyside Police. One of the cars seized,
the Focus, was later recovered in Larkhill Lane and the Mondeo in
nearby Hedges Close.
Detectives from the Force's Major Incident Team are treating the 25
year old's death as a murder and are also investigating the firearms
discharge, although it is to early to say if the incidents are
linked.
Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Dave
Brunskill, said:- "We have now had it confirmed that Kevin
suffered fatal injuries as a result a gunshot wound to his head. Our
thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this time and
specially trained family liaison officers are providing support and
updates to them on the investigation. We are keeping an open mind as
to whether both incidents are connected and we are following several
lines of enquiry to try and build up a picture of what happened in
the area on Tuesday night when Kevin was killed. Although the motive
is yet to be established at this stage, I would like to reassure the
community that this was not a random attack. I would like to appeal
to people in the area who may have information that could help us
investigate this murder and seek justice for his family to please
get in touch. Your information, however insignificant it may seem,
could be important to us progressing this investigation."
Clarke’s the
perfect fit for Vikings......
THE Vikings’ player
recruitment drive for 2012 has reached double figures, with Jon
Clarke unveiled as the clubs 10th new recruit. Clarke, who won
2 Great Britain caps in 2007, is currently in his testimonial season
at Warrington Wolves, for whom he has made more than 200 appearances
since joining from London Broncos in 2001. Prior to this, he was a
first team regular at Wigan Warriors between 1997 to 1999.
The 32 year old has signed a 2 year deal at the Vikings and Head
Coach Denis Betts is delighted to renew acquaintances with his one
time Wigan team-mate:- "I’ve known Jon for a long time and
he’s improved the qualities that he had as a young kid and continued
push himself hard in his career ever since. Coming through the ranks
at Wigan, it was clear to see that he was the kind of player who had
the dedication to succeed and despite having the odd period of
adversity along the way, he’s come out the other side on each
occasion a bigger, better and stronger player for the experience.
Alongside his on-field attributes, Jon is a great clubman too and
whichever club he’s been at over the years, at each and every one of
them he’s added to their environment. The overall quality of the man
himself makes him a very valuable asset to our squad and I’m really
looking forward to working with him once again and see his signing
as a massive coup for the club."
A specialist hooker by trade, Jon’s competitive spirit, courageous
performances and fine support play have made him a crowd favourite
throughout his career.
And, having been an integral part of the re-build at Warrington
Wolves throughout the last decade, Clarke admits he is relishing the
similar task that lies ahead for him at the Vikings:- "It’s a
new and exciting challenge that I’m about to undertake at Widnes and
despite the fact they’ve been in Super League before, this time
around it feels like an entirely new venture and in many ways it’s a
blank canvas for both the club and myself. We’re under no illusions
that there’s going to be some tough times ahead but we’re confident
there’ll be plenty of good times, too. The Vikings are an ambitious
club and I’m an ambitious player. The goals I had as an 18 year old
making his way in the game are still the same to this day, and
ultimately that is to perform to the best of my ability every single
week both on and off the pitch. I’ve had ten fantastic years at
Warrington but the time has now come for me to part company with the
club and move onto the next chapter of my career. Before I do that,
I’ll be doing my utmost to make sure that I can go out on a high and
finish my time there on the right note." |
