A night for
children and adults that promises fun and plenty of screamƨ!
WELL, it was a fantastic
event last October, at The Civic in Crosby, when several authors
took to the stage to deliver a night of entertainment aimed at
inspiring children to get into reading.
This year’s Scare Fest will have six authors on one
stage, on one night only for what will be a chilling time with lots
of spooky fun! It is being organised by former Prichards
Manager, Tony Higginson's new bookstore Formby Books, in association
with Sefton Arts, Yoshimi Digital and Sefton Celebrates Writing.
Tony said:- “As you can see from your
reports, 2010 Scare Fest was huge
success so we just had to bring it back. This year we hope to be
bigger and better.”
The event is on Tuesday, 20 October 2011. The night runs for around
3 hours starting at 6pm. At this event you get the chance to get to
meet the following authors and get your books signed by:- Tommy
Donbavand, Philip Caveney, Curtis Jobling, Jon Mayhew, Barry
Hutchison and Joseph Delaney.
Each author has a distinctive and very different style of writing
and also ways to inspire children and adults alike through their
talks. This is an experience not to be missed and one that will
prove to be highly enjoyable for all attending.
Background of the authors:-
Tommy Donbavand, will tell all about his
forthcoming TV series and sign copies of the last Scream Street book
13 and have the audience rolling with laughter as he performs his
zombie roadshow. Philip
Caveney, will fill young minds with fear from his movie
maniacs’, book 1, 'Night on Terror Island' and curdle
the blood of kids with his grisly, historical chillers, featuring
Alec Devlin, as he battles Egyptian curses, Aztec blood sacrifices
and Minotaurs.
Curtis Jobling, created ‘Bob the Builder’ and
‘Frankenstein’s Cat’, and works with Pixar and Aardman, but
still has time to write his awesome fantasy series, ‘Wereworld’,
not your average werewolf tale, a real mix of scorching fantasy and
intrigue with plenty of bloodthirsty action. He will draw live on
the night.
Jon Mayhew, who has rocketed to fame winning 5 major school/teen
reading awards including Sefton Super Reads for ‘Mortlock’
and ‘Demon Collector’ is just as good! He will read
from his forthcoming third book 'The Bone Hill Curse' another Gothic
Victorian fantasy like nothing else.
Barry Hutchison, is a lovely Scottish lad from Fort William,
and has some seriously scary, imaginary friends that want revenge on
the playmates that have forgotten them. He is hugely amusing on
stage and yet darkly disturbing with his writing! His ‘Doc.
Mortis’ is just out and really, really scares you witless.
Joseph Delaney, has become an international phenomenon,
published in 24 countries. ‘The Wardstone Chronicles’
are being filmed as we speak with Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore
and his latest, ‘I Am Grimalkin’, is by far the
fastest and most thrilling yet. We have a few luxury collectors’
editions of ‘Destiny’, the previous bestseller, part
of the ‘Spooks’ series. Click

are lucky enough to get it before someone else does!
