Public invited
to join city centre Holy Week journey
Church ministers of different
denominations are inviting people to accompany them on a Holy Week
journey around Liverpool City Centre on Saturday, 7 April 2012.
People are invited to meet at 2pm at the Quaker Meeting House
(behind Primark). The journey will include seven stops around the
city centre, with each stop focussing on a particular aspect of the
Easter story. The walk will finish at Church Alley with bread, wine
and water.
The event has been organised by the City Centre Hub of Minsters, who
work together in the city centre to share faith on the streets of
Liverpool.
Jean Flood, Chaplain at St John’s Market and co-ordinator of Mission
in the Economy, said:- "By bringing seven stations of
reflection out into the city centre, we hope that people will feel
comfortable joining in. It doesn’t matter if you don’t go to church
– all are welcome to enjoy the opportunity to reflect and take some
time out whilst the busyness of everyday life goes on around us. We
hope to draw attention to the real meaning of Easter and also to
show that amidst all the economic gloom there is hope."
Easter start for
new market A NEW food and drink market
is coming to Liverpool starting this week-end. The first
market, in Stanley Street, takes place on Easter, Saturday, 7 April
2012,
between 9am and 3pm.
It will see some of Liverpool’s finest food companies offering their
wares and will also include street entertainment and pavement cafés.
The new market will feature stalls with farmers’ produce, local
cheese artisan breads, coffee roasters, the Chocolate Cellar and one
of Sir Richard Branson’s favourite Liverpool entrepreneurs: Aaron
Booth’s cheesecake booth
"This new venture widens the range of markets available in
Liverpool. It will concentrate on high quality food and
drink and really extend choice for shoppers. It is one
of the many ways we are making the Stanley Street Quarter a real hub
of activity and diversity. I am sure we will be attracting many
shoppers on Saturday - and they will want to come back and bring
their friends." said Paul Amann, Stanley Street Quarter Steering
Group Chair.
The market will be held on the first Saturday of every month until
October, except for August when Liverpool Pride takes place.

SYNEXUS
CURRENTLY SEEKING PEOPLE WITH PSORIASIS IN MERSEYSIDE TO HELP ASSESS
NEW TREATMENT SYNEXUS,
the world's largest multinational company dedicated to the
successful recruitment and running of clinical studies, is currently
recruiting patients in Merseyside for a study which is assessing a
new treatment which may help ease the symptoms of psoriasis.
Psoriasis is a skin condition that causes red, flaky, crusty patches
of skin covered with silvery scales. The condition is not infectious
and most people are affected only in small patches on their body. It
affects around 2% of people in the UK. It can start at any age, but
most often develops between the ages of 11 and 45. The severity of
psoriasis varies greatly from person to person. For some people it
is just a minor irritation, but for others it has a major impact on
their quality of life.
There is currently no cure for psoriasis. However, there are various
treatments that can help control the symptoms.
The study that Synexus is running is assessing a topical ointment
that may help ease the symptoms of psoriasis. The study may be
suitable for those who:-
► Are aged over 18 years old
► Have been diagnosed with psoriasis
Synexus is currently recruiting patients for this study at its
Dedicated Clinical Research Centre in Merseyside. Those who would
like to find out more or are interested in participating in this
study should contact the following number and quote the relevant
reference number:
Merseyside:- 0151 5509951 (Ref: code 6558)
There is no obligation for people to participate and
if they do decide to take part, their GP will be kept fully informed
of their involvement. Patients will be reimbursed for their time and
all reasonable out of pocket expenses if they are accepted onto the
study.
Synexus has many years experience in conducting a wide range of
clinical studies. The purpose of a clinical research study is to
answer important questions about a new medicine, for example: does
it improve a person’s health and which dose of the medicine works
best?
Each year, thousands of patients take part in clinical studies at
Synexus’ Dedicated Clinical Research Centres. There are many
different studies running at each of the Centres throughout the year
including potential treatments for conditions such as osteoporosis,
smoking cessation, high-cholesterol, insomnia, vaccines, asthma and
childhood eczema.
Participating in a Synexus clinical study means patients receive
increased medical attention and may benefit from medications that
aren’t yet available to other sufferers of their condition, while
making a positive contribution to the health of future generations.
