OK, it is not our normal area, but watch this
space as it might happen on a beach near you, very soon!
On Wednesday, 28 March 2012,
children from St John’s primary school in Blackpool meet up with
their heroes. They then helped them to make a giant sand
installation. can you guess what it was? Yep, it was a promo for
Alvin and The Chipmunks to celebrate the DVD release of their latest
film, Alvin & The Chipmunks - Chipwrecked.
Alvin and the gang from St John’s worked along the side of artists
from local art collective, Sand In Your Eye, to create the giant
drawing of the global superstar, under the shadow of the Blackpool
Tower.
Just before the event, Andy Moss who was the team leader at Sand In
Your Eye told us that:- "Sand art is a brilliantly creative
way of getting out in the fresh air so we’re thrilled to be teaching
some of Blackpool’s children all about it. We’ll be prepping the
beach and marking out the area for our drawing in the morning and
then when the kids get here we’ll be showing them the techniques
needed to create the best sand art. And what better way to engage
with them than by identifying one of their favourite characters in
the form of the legend who is Alvin!"
