CARNIVAL supporting Brazil & Liverpool
JOIN the team of Zumba
instructors, performers and approx 500 participants dancing their
way towards their fitness goals for an amazing cause.
The Zumba Carnival is 3 fun-packed hours of activities including;
fun routines from guest instructors from across the region, a
high-energy Brazilian dance display from Movema, Samba drumming from
Batala and SambaBeat, an amazing acrobatic demonstration from
Capoeira Cordão de Ouro, funky DJ set by AudioVoyeur plus a raffle

As well as all of this, there will be a live web-link with Cortejo
Afro in Bahia where the Liverpool crowd will undergo a conversation

outfits - think Rio de Janeiro (with trainers).
Black Achievers Awards "Female Achiever of the Year"
2011 and Co-Director of Movema, Ithalia Forel says:- "The
Zumba CARNIVAL is going to be a non-stop party and fun for everyone
no matter what age, ability or background. We are amazed when people
tell us how our classes and events have had an impact on their
lives, and thrilled to make a positive difference both here and on
the other side of the world."
All proceeds from the event go towards LIVEBrazil, a project
striving to build stronger communities in Liverpool and Brazil
through arts and intercultural exchange. The project is lead by the
umbrella company BrazUKa in association with local cultural
organisations Batala, Movema, ABCC, Knotty Ash Community Centre and
more, with the support of VIVA Brazil Restaurants.
The projects aims embrace developing youth leadership and giving
young people a voice on the important global and social issues we
face by sharing knowledge and experience of UK and Brazilian culture
through discussion, developing artistic work and delivering
community engagement activities.
Zumba Instructor Adriana Whitley says:- "As a Brazilian to be
part of this event is very special to me and to be able to help
people in Brazil this brings water to my eyes. During his visit to

Titanic
commemoration service at Liverpool Cathedral
A commemoration service
marking the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic is to be
held at Liverpool Cathedral.
The service, on Sunday, 15 April 2012, from 7.30pm, is open to all
and is the city’s major commemoration of the disaster.
It will both be an act of remembrance and opportunity to reflect.
The Bishop of Liverpool, the Right Reverend James Jones, will give
an address and journalist Peter Elson will reflect on the port of
Liverpool, its past and its hopes for the future. During the service
a sound scape, put together by the Cathedral and the Liverpool
Women’s History for Schools Group, which recalls the night of 14
April and 15 April 1912 and includes songs which were popular at the
time will be played.
The Red Ensign and White Star pennant will also be presented as part
of the service, Bishop James said:- "The Titanic was a
national disaster that deeply affected the lives of many on
Merseyside. The Maritime Museum Exhibition and this Cathedral
Service give us the moment to remember those both lost and saved and
to cherish Liverpool’s maritime history which the city is taking
forward with great pride into the 21st Century."
The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Frank Prendergast, who will
give a reading at the service, said:- "There are a number of
events taking place in the city to mark the Titanic centenary but
this service will be a very special and moving occasion. It will
give us a chance to reflect on all those who have lost their lives
at sea but also look ahead to the city’s maritime future."
