Tarzan and Jane
wanted for International Book Launch Update
WE can confirm that Shauna Coxsey has been
picked as Jane, but we still need a back up just in case she has a
problem, so keep your emails coming. Also, we are still looking for
a Tarzan and Tarzan back up. But if you did not read in last week's
edition and want to know why we are looking, well we are helping to
run the international book launch of the next official Tarzan book.
The new book and story are by Andy Briggs and will be marking the
100th Birthday of the first publication of this internationally
renowned character. We have had quite a few entries for Tarzan so
far, but as of yet none have been what we require, so you still have
a chance. Please note that you must not have any tattoos in visible
areas! I.e. Chest, back, arms and legs... To find out more about
what is required and what it is all about go to our report, which
was in last week's issue, by clicking
here on now!
Our Jane, modelled by Shauna
Coxsey, is pictured above. If
you do not know who she is, she's a local girl and an amazing
climber. Well amazing is an understatement as she is in fact the 3rd
in the world for female competitive rock climbing!
Southport Weekender 2012
IT is just over a week now since 7,000 music lovers
from over 40 countries were heading to the small seaside town of
Minehead to celebrate 25 years of groundbreaking sounds at the
world's longest running indoor dance and urban music event. Nowhere
else is there a line up that boasts so many headline artists or DJs
with a crowd wearing so many beautiful smile! Despite everyone's
best efforts to free things up so we could get over to this event,
things just kept getting in our way and sadly we where unable to
attended for the very first time in many, many years... So we are
gutted! We can report mind you that we will be heading down if all
goes to plan as normal next year, or we will be singing the blues up
here! From what we have been told, ever since the first needle
dropping to the last chorus singing out, it was an unforgettable
experience from start to finish, at this years event. So if you
headed over, we would love to see your photos and hear your
reports... So email them to us at:- news24@southportreporter.com.
Dave and Alex told us after the event:- "It's only been a couple of
days since we left the site and we are still exhausted from the
biggest event in our history. Whether it was Jill Scott's golden
performance, Patrice Rushen reminding us of her musical prowess or
Soul II Soul bringing us back to life, the vibes were right at
Southport 48. And the good news is that now we've set this world
class standard, we'll be doing everything we can to maintain it." So
we are even more gutted we could not attended! So if you want to be
as gutted as we are, do not forget to register for next years or you
could miss out on what will be another fantastic event! Booking
Now:- For those who were lucky enough to attend, you can book your
places for Southport Weekender 49 now by filling in the form inside
the programme or by calling the office on:- 0844 879 7210. Remember
that the best and closest apartments are allocated on a first come,
first served basis, and - most importantly - the first 3000
attendees to book will be given exclusive after party wristbands to
gain entry to our Sunday night extravaganza. Incredible as it may
seem with only a few days gone hundreds of people have already
booked and secured places for 2013. Tickets will go on general sale
on Monday, 3 September 2012 to those who weren't with us last
weekend. And yes, before you all ask... Sorry, to Southport
Weekender team, but we hope to be with you again next year! We hope
to be attending again and flying the flag for Southport at the
Southport Weekender next year once again.

THE 2012 2nd year students from the Foundation
Degree in Fine Art at Runshaw College recently exhibited their work
at the Euxton Lane Campus. The end of year exhibition showcased
their talent through paintings, photography, paper-stitch
installation and video work. These photos are examples of the
students work in that exhabition. Runshaw tutor Jan Moon commented:-
"The students created a fantastic exhibition. It was a great
success and saw students receive compliments from all those who
