Hotpots are in town!
EVERYONE in East Lancashire
and Merseyside are being reminded that The Lancashire Hotpots will
be performing a free concert in the area on Saturday, 16 June 2012.
The much loved Lancashire group are involved in promoting the
election of the County's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC). From
midday they will be performing a free, hour-long set on the
bandstand in Burnley Town Centre. As well as performing their most
popular songs, including 'Chippy Tea', the event will
see the band's first live performance of 'Be Part of It!';
a song specially written to inform people about this year's election
and why it's so important. Lancashire Police Authority (LPA) is
hosting the event, which will include a competition and free
giveaways. The event marks the launch of the Authority's 'Be
Part of It!' campaign; aimed at ensuring as many are aware
of Lancashire's election for a PCC on 15 November 2012. The PCC will
replace the current Lancashire Police Authority. The person elected
to be PCC will be responsible for the police budget, deciding how
crime is tackled in the County and holding the Chief Constable to
account. Head of Community Engagement for LPA, Naomi Walker, said:-
"We're so excited to have The Lancashire Hotpots on board. We
want as many people as possible to come to Burnley on Saturday and
join in the fun. Come and meet us, grab some free giveaways and
enter our competition to win a goody bag from The Lancashire
Hotpots."
Missing From Home - Michael Cawley
MERSEYSIDE Police have
confirmed that Michael has been found safe and well. They
would like to thank the public and the media for their help.
Fatal Shooting in Norris Green,
Liverpool MERSEYSIDE
Police can confirm that an investigation has been launched after
Joseph Thompson, aged 32, was shot dead and another man seriously
injured in Norris Green on Thursday, 14 June 2012. The second man is
said to have received a gunshot injuries to his upper body. He as
taken to hospital by ambulance and remains in hospital in a
condition that is described as being serious, but stable. It is also
reported that his injuries not thought to be life-threatening. The
scene was cordoned off by Merseyside Police and House-to-house
enquiries are now underway. Merseyside Police have also said that
high visibility patrols have been stepped up in the area. The motive
for the shooting is not yet clear and officers are appealing for
anyone with information to come forward. "An investigation to
establish the full circumstances of the incident is underway. Anyone

Chief Constable
Commendations 2012
MERSEYSIDE Police officers
and staff were commended by the Chief Constable, Jon Murphy on
Monday, 11 June 2012, during a ceremony at Aintree racecourse. The
Chief Constable presented each recipient with a Certificate of
Commendation to recognise the outstanding work carried out in the
course of their duty. These Officers and Opertions where as
follows:-
Operation Bexley
D/Constable's Christopher Bromilow and Charlotte Raymer were
commended for their part in an operation investigating high value
burglary offences across the North West. After investigating over
180 incidents involving theft, 4 people were convicted and received
sentences totalling 33 years.
Operation Fumara
D/Chief Inspector Lee Turner, D/Inspector Andrew O'Connor,
D/Constable Philip Ryan and 2 other officers who are not being named
were commended for their part in an operation focusing on armed
robberies that were committed across the Merseyside area. Their work
resulted in 5 males being arrested and receiving sentences totalling
35 years. All officers were commended for their professionalism and
dedication during the operation.
A/Sergeant Sarah Taylor has been commended for her leadership and
commitment in further developing an effective partnership with local
transport providers in the role of Mersey Travel Liaison Sergeant
from February 2010 onwards. Sarah has set the standard of service
provided by Merseyside Police at an extremely high level.
Sea Odyssey
T/Assistant Chief Constable Chris Armitt, T/Chief Superintendent
Mike Cloherty, Chief Inspector Paul Levick, Chief Inspector Martin
Woosey, Inspector Jonathan Davies and 2 other officers who are not
being named were commended for their professionalism and dedication
to duty during the planning and implementation of the policing plan
for Sea Odyssey in April this year. During the 3 days the estimated
attendance at the event was given as over 500,000 and throughout the
event only 4 crimes were recorded and 2 arrested made for disorder.
Fraud in a Care Home
D/Constable Jill Fallon was commended for her work in pursuing
charges of theft and fraud earlier this year whilst investigating a
large scale fraud perpetrated by the managers of a care home in
Speke. Her investigation resulted in the offenders receiving
sentences totalling 7 years.
Chief Constable Jon Murphy, said:- "These commendations
highlight the commitment, courage and professionalism of our
officers. They do not take their responsibilities lightly and
undertaken their roles with dignity and a quiet determination
ensuring they provide an excellent service for Merseyside. I am
immensely proud of each of them." |
