Did you go
to the 100th Ainsdale Show?
THE
Ainsdale Show was first held on Saturday, 20 July 1912, in a
marquee erected on land that was known as the "Ainsdale
Beach Pleasure Ground." It was adjacent to the Sands
Hotel or as it was then known, the Lakeside Hotel. During the
Second World War the show was, suspended, so 2012 marked the
Ainsdale Horticultural
Society's 100th show!
You could not have picked a better day for it was well! As
the rest of the UK was hit by rain and floods, it was very
nearly blue sky all day for the show, now held on the Village
Green. The event still displays the same type of flowers, fruit
and vegetable exhibits that the very first show had, but it now
offers lots of other activities. We popped down in the early
afternoon to snap some of the many events taking place at the
show.
Let us know
if you also headed over to it and tell us what you thought of
this historic event by emailing us to our newsroom via:-news24@southportreporter.com.
Well done to
the Society for beating all the odds and again delivering a
stunning event. We hope it will run for another 100 and more
shows!
