Photos by Patrick Trollope.
THE Orange Lodge conducted
its annual parade on 12 July 2012 in Southport. The annual event is
to mark the Anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne. Also this year the lodges
told us they were also celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Attending this year where members from many of the Orange
Institutions from Liverpool and surrounding areas and some even from
Wales. This
controversial parade is said to have brought in 3000 members, but
each year it raises mixed reactions locally. Some businesses hate it
and other like it. Also many people not involved ask what it is
really about and why they pick Southport. Steve Kingston, Deputy
Provincial Master told us that:- "This parade reminds us of
the Civil and Religious freedoms for ALL established during King
William III reign have served the country well for over 300 years.
It is also about letting members have a day out in a fantastic town
for an enjoyable day." If you took part or have any views on
this parade, let us know by emailing us to:-
