Preston Guild's
G-Fest
Photograpic report by Dan
Archer
PRESTON Guild is a historic
celebration dating back to 1179 and this year it was held again. The
Guild is the only Guild still celebrated in the UK and as such is
unique. It is only celebrated once every 20 years and this was the
first time it was held in Preston, with it having the title City.
The last few events for the 2012 Guild took place over the 8
September and 9 September 2012 and thousands attended events through
out the City. We had the pleasure of covering a day long party on
the Saturday in Avenham Park, called G-Fest. This was a music event
with many some of Britain's biggest Urban and Soul Artists took to
the stage, like Angel and the feisty R&B girl group Stooshe. Sadly
former N-Dubz fron-man Dappy could not attended in the end. Well
done to all who put the Preston Guild on and, as with Liverpool's
Capital of Culture, we hope it lets Preston have a long lasting
legacy from this historic year. To find out more about the Guild go
to their
website. If you attended or
have been involved, please let us know your memories of this
festival. |
