These twilight clinics should make the service more convenient for a

whether they continue when the trial period ends or if additional
clinics need providing." The new clinics will be operating from Monday, 24 September 2012 are

backs consumer campaign for honest fish labelling
LABOUR MEPs have voted to
support an amendment that will enable shoppers to know the date
their fish was caught, rather than the date it was landed. The right
wing majority in the European Parliament voted down the amendment,
however.
A recent survey conducted by the magazine "Which?" that shows
that 80% of British consumers want to know the date their fresh fish
is caught.
"Consumers like to know their fish is fresh, and the present
rules only tell you when the fish was landed in port not when it was
caught. This was an opportunity to support the small
scale fishing boats in coastal communities, who go out on a daily
basis and come back with their smaller, but fresher, catches. The
rules which have been agreed only tell consumers when the fish was
landed, but it doesn't help me when I go to my local fish market and
I want to know how fresh the fish I'm buying is." said Local Labour Euro MP, Arlene McCarthy.
The European Parliament's Socialist and Democrat Group, of which
Labour is a part, put forward an amendment to improve fish labelling
rules in legislation which is part of the Common Fisheries Policy
reform going through the European Parliament today. Right wing
groups, including the British Conservatives, voted against the
amendment.
Labour and its allies supported the the new legislation overall, but
want to see the rules on labelling and consumer information
improved.
Arlene added:- "We wanted to see labels on fish in supermarkets that show the
species name, the area the fish was caught or farmed, the production
method and date of catch so consumers can make informed choices.
We fully support new 'ecolabel' which was
agreed today, so from now on people will know more about the
sustainability of the fish they are buying.
Regardless of the high reliability of the technologies for
preserving the fish as fresh, consumers want accurate information to
inform their choices."
NHS trust Board
on the road
A NHS trust Board is going
on the road and taking decision-making closer to the community.
The directors of Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust will meet
at the:- Chapel Gallery, St Helens Road, Ormskirk, Lancashire L39 4QR

Members of the public are welcome to attend and observe the meeting.
Anyone with a special requirement should contact the Trust in
advance on:- 01704 704714.
The Board now meets in public monthly and this is the second time

met at the Family Life Centre in Southport in May.
The agenda will be available on the Trust website in advance of the
meeting. Supporting papers will be made available on the day.
Sir Ron Watson, chairman of the Board, said:- "As we move
towards becoming a foundation trust, it is more important than ever
that the decisions we make about local healthcare are open to public
scrutiny."
Around half the NHS trusts in England have achieved foundation trust
status.
Foundation trusts are membership organisations which anyone over 16
can join and, through the membership, local people have a greater
say in how local decisions about health care are made. Southport and

2 fake emails to
look out for and report
THESE are 2 emails that we
have spotted and had reported to us. We have learned that they are doing
the rounds in a variety of formats, but using the same information.
Most of them have been reported to the Police, but they would like
you to still report any you get to them.
The first email
carries the subject title:- "I'm diplomat Haenssgen Horst Dieter; Call
me +1253 216 4615" and its message content often reads:- "Open
Your Attach File And Ready Urgent". The
email often has 2 attachments, as shown beneath.
This one tends to stand out as a fake, but the use of the
passport is a new addition. The passport says it is a UN
passport, but the information has been played with. The word
doc. on the email we got had a standard phishing email scam wording
on it. Asking for financial details. Should you receive this
email or one like it, we would strongly recommend that you do not
open the attachments, but forward it to one of, or both of,
the following email addresses, so that they can be trace by law
enforcement. The first email address is for the UK The National
Hi-Tech Crime Unit (NHTCU)
phishing@cityoflondon.police.uk
and also the US counterpart:-
phishing-report@us-cert.gov.
The other email we are featuring attachment in this
scam warning is an interesting one. Keep any eye out for is one
clamming to be from Interpol. It is very like the ones saying
you have been court doing illegal activities and they are
increasingly becoming more common place.
To
us this
email looked at first glance as it it was a cross between a press release and a
general information email. Oddly to most other people it might set
off alembics, due to that look. On even closer inspection the email
has a gmail.com address displayed as its 'sent from' address.
Again
if you get it, please send a copy to the UK The National Hi-Tech
Crime Unit (NHTCU)
and/or the US counterpart
US Cert, so that they can track.
When we
contacted Interpol about this email, they send us this reply:-
"Thank you for your message regarding suspected fraud or abuse of
INTERPOL's distinctive signs. INTERPOL does not generally contact
the public and does not request payments. If your readers have
received a message claiming to be from INTERPOL in relation to a
financial transaction, they should treat this as suspicious. For
further information on the different types of financial fraud and
scams used by criminals, please direct your readers to our
website. Should any of your
readers think they are victims of a crime, they should contact local
or national Police authorities in their country. These law
enforcement bodies will be able to assist and can access the
appropriate INTERPOL channels if required."
Remember, never send any financial information to any
emails sent to you.
Also never click on any links to any emails to any
website you use a password on.
Always type in the website address and then go to the
material you require from with in that site. External links
can send to mirror websites, send you to links to viruses, for
example. Even if the email looks 100% and you where expecting
an email, check who sent it before reacting to the material within
it! |
