Iain M Banks in
Liverpool Town Hall
ON Friday, 12
October 2012, Iain M
Banks, visited Liverpool Town
Hall and was greeted by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor
Sharon Sullivan, who was very quickly made into an huge fan after
hearing his very entertaining presentation. If you do not know who
Iain M. Banks is, well his is one of the biggest selling science
fiction novelists, and he is currently rated as the best seller
within that genre. At present he is the author of 10 science fiction
novels and 1 short fiction collection. His explained, at this event,
how his science fiction novels grew. It was quite different kind of
story to that which most writers would have given. He was very
lively and highly entertaining, with a fantastic ability to paint a
picture through verbal descriptions, of his thought processes and
the environments that led to his work being published. With such a
lot of humour, as the Lord Mayor pointed out, he could have easily
been a comedian. What a refreshing and highly enlightening
experience this was for all who attended. Tony Higginson from Formby
Books, who had organised the event said:- "Iain M
Banks was fantastic, as are
his books. It was a super night and a worthy way to celebrate the 25
years of 'Culture''...
I have to say that the Lord Mayor of Liverpool was exceptionally
accommodating and helpful to all our requests: Thank you. I have
been told that she found this event great fun, as did the audience.
A massive thank you must also go to the Town Hall staff, for helping
me put this seriously cool Sci-Fi Special." If you want to
