CLAPPERBOARD'S 2012 WINNING SHORT
FILM 'WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT'
A group of young Liverpool
film-makers who produced their first short film which won this
year’s Clapperboard Best Film award has been selected for exhibition
at this year’s Co-operative Film Festival in Manchester.
The short winning film was judged by industry professionals,
acclaimed award winning writer, Frank Cottrell Boyce (24 Hour Party
People, Millions), award winning producer Nicola Shindler from Red
Productions (The Syndicate, Scott and Bailey) and Benidorm actors,
Tony Maudsley and Crissy Rock.
The film was made with a group of young men from Pinewood Training
and produced in collaboration with Clapperboard UK and Comic Relief.
The film tells the story of a young man, Anthony who’s desperate to
find employment. He feels society mainly views him as a useless
joke. After many attempts to find a job, he stumbles across a ‘clown
for hire’ vacancy in a shop window and without hesitation he lands
the job. But, is being a clown the perfect role or has he entered a
world where many clowns have lost hope! The films have already been
well received at regional premieres in Salford and Liverpool
respectively.
Actor Tony Maudsley said:- "As one of this year’s Jury
members, I’m not surprised to see this touching short film being
selected for its first national film festival screening. I’m sure it
will go on to win many more awards nationally and internationally."
Clapperboard Director Maureen Sinclair said:- "We’re delighted
that already, this short film has been picked up so quickly by a
recognised national Film Festival from the 12 shorts that we
produced with some brilliant young talent from Merseyside and
Salford as we’ve only just begun to distribute this year’s films."
Industry professionals such as writer Arthur Ellison (The Street,
Moving On) actors Jessica Forrest, Jack McMullan (Waterloo Road) and
Alice Barlow (Hollyoaks), creative directors, Jo Lewis, Amy
Campbell, James Shaw, worked with the young filmmakers to develop
their ideas from script to screen. |
