WITH a sell-out for Cream 2
March 2013 imminent, Cream have been working hard behind the scenes
to put together their next party instalment at Nation on May Bank
Holiday weekend. Cream have told us that they will launch into the
summer with a brand new party on Sunday, 5 May 2013, joined by some
of the biggest electronic acts in the world for what will be the
first May Bank Holiday Party at Nation, Liverpool, in 4 years.
Expect mayhem in the Courtyard as we welcome Steve Aoki to the club
for the 1st time. The man behind Dim Mak Records has been credited
with launching the careers of some of the most influential acts of
the last decade as well as collaborating with everyone from Afrojack
and Tiësto to Dillon Francis. Make sure you're prepared for cakes
flying, and the occasional stage dive. "Joining Steve in the
Courtyard is the uber-talented Nervo. As one of the highlights of
Creamfields 2012 we're pleased to finally bring the Grammy
award-winning duo to Cream and can't wait to hear 'Like Home'
dropped in the Courtyard! Completing the Courtyard line up we have
industry chart topping producer Chris Lake and rising star D.O.D.
After an amazing set at Cream last year we had to invite Hardwell
back to the Main Room. At the tender age of 24, the award-winning
DJ, producer, musician and label manager was 6 ranked in the DJ Mag
Top 100 in 2012 and has certainly got the potential to head straight
to the top in 2013. Size Records' finest AN21 and Max Vangeli
join the Main Room line up hot off the back of their hit debut album
'People of the Night' and if 2 Aussies weren't enough, Tommy Trash
aka the 'thunder from down under' will be playing his
first set for Cream dropping his own carefully created anthems
including the infamous 'Truffle Pig', yes you read that right, he'll
be joined by a founding member of the ever dynamic Moda collective,
Tom Staar. On the trance side of things we're taking it back to
where it started, the Annexe of Nation along with a shed load of
production led by Cream Ibiza favourite John O'Callaghan. John will
be joined by Ørjan Nilsen who features on his track 'Crispy Duck'
released earlier this year and Simon Patterson. Since parting as one
half of Dogzilla in the 00's, Simon's solo career has soared from
strength to strength with his dark, driving blend of trance and
techno attracting attention from all over the Globe. Finalising the
Annexe line up is our one to watch, Ben Gold, who as one of the
brightest young stars in the trance scene has seen his music clock
up regular plays from a range of world class DJs including Armin van
Buuren and Above and Beyond. Meanwhile other acts performing include
Cream residents Gareth Wyn, Anthony Probyn, and Rob Harnetty."
said organisers. Early bird tickets for Cream 5th May go
on sale 10am on Monday, 4 March 2013, priced at £22.50 + BF.

Put your unloved clothes
to good use – recycle them says Palm Recycling!!
RESIDENTS of Sefton are being urged to
de-clutter their wardrobe and recycle all those unloved clothes that
don’t fit anymore or are out of fashion. North west-based Palm
Recycling provides a weekly kerbside collection of textiles to every
household in Sefton on behalf of the Council. Residents are provided
with a pink bag for the recycling of clothes, paired shoes, old
curtains, bedding, belts and handbags to put out for collection next
to the green recycling box. This will be collected on a weekly basis
and a replacement bag will be left for every bag placed out.
Cllr Trish Hardy, Cabinet Member Communities and Environment, said:-
“Nearly half of all adults in the UK put a least some clothing
in the bin, thinking it is not suitable to be reused by anyone,
however, any clothes that are badly torn can be reprocessed to make
cleaning cloths for industry. It is estimated that 350 000 tonnes of
used clothing goes into landfill in the UK every year.”
Palm Recycling’ Promotions Officer, Gail Ormston, added:-
“Clothes recycling provides an affordable source of clothing to
disadvantaged people in the UK, the developing world and emerging
countries in Eastern Europe, meaning your old clothes and shoes are
put to good use rather than being sent to landfill. The weekly
kerbside textiles collection scheme we run works in harmony with the
collection of a wide range of other materials for recycling, such as
paper, glass bottles and jars, cans, food waste and aerosols.”
Residents can request replacement or additional textiles
recycling bags, green boxes, blue bags, and food waste caddies free
of charge, by contacting Sefton Council on:- 0845 140 0845.

HMV is to close
more stores
THE administrators,
Deloitte, have on Wednesday, 20 February 2013, told staff that
another 464 jobs will be lost from the failed music chain HMV, as
they close a further 37 stores. The stores' administrators have said
that they will be closed in the next 4 to 6 weeks. The stores marked
for closure are located in:- Ashford in Kent, Basildon, Bolton,
Cheltenham, East Kilbride, Enfield, Folkestone, Glasgow Argyle,
Gloucester, Grimsby, Hatfield Galleria, Heathrow T5 Departure Level,
Heathrow Terminal 1, Heathrow Terminal 3, Heathrow Terminal 4, Hemel
Hempstead, High Wycombe, Isle of Wight, Lancaster, Leadenhall,
Mansfield, Middlesbrough, Newbury, Newcastle Silverlink, Newport,
Nuneaton, Redditch, Salisbury, Scarborough, Southport, Stafford,
Staines, Stockport, Swindon, Taunton, Torquay, Woking.
The news has shocked staff after
Deloitte had told the national media, last week, which sale
discussions were "progressing", and they had secured
stock for HMV from most of its suppliers. This news had raised hopes
of a rescue deal coming soon. Sadly, just 2 weeks on since 60 of the
chains' staff had been let go, the HMV's head office network, have
told further staff that their jobs will now be affected. Deloitte
said that they would:- "try to relocate employees to other
stores where possible." This cut will see the chain reduced
to around 116 stores. Nick Edwards, joint administrator at Deloitte,
said the decision to shut the stores was made to:- "enhance
the prospects of the restructured business continuing as a going
concern. We are extremely grateful to the staff for their continued
strong support and commitment during an understandably difficult
period. All other key stakeholders including suppliers and landlords
remain supportive and we appreciate their ongoing assistance."
