Southport
becomes
for a few days
THE period feature film
called:- "Christina Noble", currently using the
working title "Noble" is being shot by Destiny
Films Ltd. from Twickenham Studios, Middlesex. They were in
Southport over Monday, 25 February and Tuesday, 26 February
2013. The film so far has also been shot on location in Ho Chi
Minh City, Vietnam, and currently in Liverpool, until 8 March
2013. Part of this shoot on Merseyside has involved them working
down the road, namely, on Lord Street, Castle Street and Union
Street, in Southport. The film is set in the 1960's and, as a
result, parts of the roads and buildings had to be altered
temporarily to fit into that time frame. The story follows the
true life of Christina Noble, who, after overcoming a harsh
childhood in Ireland, with just a few dollars, a dream and her
courage, found an inspirational path which shows that truly it
can sometimes take just one person to make a difference. Her
work lead to the Christina Noble Children's Foundation (CNCF)
being formed, helping underprivileged children in Vietnam and
Mongolia with the hope of helping each child maximize their life
potential. We got the chance to meet Sarah Greene whilst she was
on set in Southport. Sarah studied at The National Theatre
School of
Ireland, and has been a hit
on the stage in Ireland ever since. She plays Christina between
the ages of 16 to 23 years. As shooting was taking place outside
the former American Diner, on Union Street, on a very cold
Monday night and, as she warmed up between the takes, she
commented to us:- "We have had a fantastic welcome from
the people of Southport and Liverpool. It is really good to see
so many people taking an interest in our filming. This is an
amazing story we are telling in this film. I am so pleased to be
playing this extraordinary lady. Christina helped well over
700,000 abandoned street children in Vietnam and Mongolia and
this film is about her strength of character. A character that
led her to do what many would say was to take an impossible
dream and turn it into reality. A task she believes was sent to
her by God." David
Mumeni who plays Mario
Pistolas, was also on the set, and kindly took the time to
quickly chat to us as well, added:- "Like Sarah, I'm also
so pleased to be a part of this film. It is a fantastic story
about a lady who leaves behind an extraordinary life story that
is truly inspirational." Also Dan Connolly, who is the
film's location manager added:- "We would like to thank
all the businesses and the public for their help in letting us
shoot this film so smoothly. I just hope we have not
inconvenienced you too much and apologise for any disruption our
filming has had on any of you." Some of the crew are
back again on Friday, 8 March 2013 to wrap up filming at the
Union Street set.
