Stars added to
Waterfront line-up
THE UK's best selling
classical artist and a BRIT Award winner are the latest names to be
part of the free Pier Head
concert in June.
Back by popular demand, Russell Watson will be the finale act of
Music on the Waterfront on Saturday 8 June from 6pm to 10.30pm. He
performed last year to rave reviews, and will return again this year
as the final act.
Russell said:- "I am absolutely delighted to be performing for
Music on the Waterfront! It was such a fantastic evening last time,
I can guarantee we will have another wonderful night! Look forward
to seeing you all there!"
Singer songwriter KT Tunstall who scooped the BRIT for the Best
British Female award in 2006 and also won an Ivor Novello
Award, will take to the stage on the Saturday ahead of the release
of her fourth, hugely anticipated albums 'Invisible Empire'
and 'Crescent Moon'.
They will join other acts including Katie Melua, The
Christians, Nell Bryden, Lighthouse Family frontman Tunde Baiyewu,
Jack Savoretti and Thea Gilmore.
Liverpool City Council's Cabinet Member for culture and tourism,
Councillor Wendy Simon, said:- "The line-up this year is
stronger than ever, with household names set to wow thousands of
people for free in the beautiful surroundings of our world heritage waterfront.n We know a highlight for many people last year was
Russell Watson's emotional and dramatic finale, so we're delighted
he is retuning once again for what I'm sure will be a stunning
performance. Liverpool excels when it comes to free, outdoor events
and I'm sure Music on the Waterfront 2013 will be a huge success."
The Saturday evening event is hosted by Smooth Radio.
The music action kicks off on Friday, 7 June 2013, from 6.30pm to
10pm as homegrown talent takes to the stage. Acts include Mercury
Music Prize winner Terri Walker, big band artist Neville Skelly, Jon
Casey Blues Band - Merseycats, pianist Victoria Sharpe and jazz
group Tipitina.
