Bringing Boofest
back
ONE Vision Housing has
confirmed a fantastic line up of entertainment for their 3rd annual
Boofest festival, which returns to North Park on Friday, 9 August
2013.
The FREE family event will showcase rising stars of Sefton, in the
shape of unsigned bands; The Protagonists, Watchtower and The
Works. They will be performing on the Juice FM stage, from which the
radio station will be broadcasting live, throughout the day.
When not relaxing on the man-made beach, or enjoying the thrills of
the free rides; locals can take part in the beat the goalie
competition, hosted by Everton Football Club; knock out a few
punches at a boxercise class; or get to grips with the giant
climbing wall.
As part of One Vision's commitment
to support and improve the local communities, they will be
addressing and educating about a number of issues, such as gun, gang
and knife crime; with regular workshops taking place on the day.
Last year the festival attracted more than 6000 people to a
sundrenched North Park and the positive support and feedback from
the local community has ensured that it's back again.
The festival will take place from 12pm to 4pm at North Park in Bootle
on Friday, 9 August 2013.

event please visit

This year's sponsor for the event is Bootle
Glass.
10 Portuguese
nurses are joining the staff at Southport Hospital
THE 8 women and 2 men, who come from across Portugal, were
recruited in its 2nd City, Porto, by deputy director of nursing
Angela Kelly and assistant matron for education Nicky Williams in
May.
"We have 20 home grown and newly qualified nurses in training with
the Trust, and more in the pipeline, but there is a national
shortage of qualified nursing staff with experience. Each of the
nurses joining us from Portugal has at least 12 months' nursing
experience. We were very particular about who was recruited and the
successful candidates were whittled down from a shortlist of 20.
They all have excellent English which was a pre-condition of
interview." said Angela.
7 of the nurses, 2 of whom have previously worked in the UK in
Yorkshire, started work this week. The remaining three will take up
their posts in September.
Sara Costa, 1 of the new recruits, said:- "There are many
nurses without work in Portugal so moving to Southport is a great
opportunity to develop my career."

CHILDREN GO
UNDER THE SEA FOR FIRST OF 6 SNAPPERJAXX KIDS CLUBS
YOUNG Birkenhead shoppers
went under the sea for the first in a series of kids clubs for the
summer holidays. Children made the most of the first
SnapperJaxx kids club at The Grange and Pyramids Shopping Centre in
Birkenhead which included singalongs, theatrical performances, story
telling and crafts – all with a distinctly watery theme.
The SnapperJaxx kids clubs will
run every Friday of the summer holiday, up to and including 30 August
2013, with imaginative clubs which have a new theme every week
including Jungle Swing Thing, Zappy Zoo, Bug's Life, Roaring with
Dinosaurs and Roll Up to the Circus.
There will be a host of activities to be enjoyed at the
performer-led clubs which are held inside an eye catching inflatable
structure and will run from 12 pm to 5 pm.
Derek Millar, Commercial Director
for The Grange and Pyramids Shopping Centre, said:- "We want
to celebrate the long summer break with our young shoppers and our
aim was not just to have a one-off event, but to create a series of
fun playtime sessions for the children which would last the whole
holiday.
They are completely free and it gives parents the chance to also
take advantage of all the great retailers we have here including
great high street names such as River Island, Marks and Spencer,
Next and our valued independents such as B D and Kay and Hannons.
With our terrific food court and selection of cafes, we are turning
the centre into the perfect family day out which need not cost the
earth with parking only £2 for the whole day."
