Liverpool's
favourite stage actors prepare for a (Barry) White Christmas!
IN just a few weeks time,
EchoTwo @ Echo Arena Liverpool has a grown up festive treat in store
for theatregoers when the only Christmas themed show in town,
Dreaming of a Barry White Christmas, premieres at the venue from
Tuesdays, 17 December to Saturday, 21 December 2013. The cast are
wrapping up warm and rehearsing hard for what is sure to be the
biggest laugh of the festive season!
Described as a 'Scouse Scrooge' comedy play and
crammed full with original classic hits from soul legend Barry White
including:- 'Love's Theme', 'Can't Get enough of
your Love Babe' and 'It May Be Winter Outside'...
plus other huge 70's numbers, Dreaming of a Barry White Christmas is
the coolest and funniest comedy of the season!
The show stars Liverpool's most prestigious home grown talent -
Andrew Schofield (Brick Up The Mersey Tunnels, Lost Soul, Reds and
Blues, Blood Brothers), Alan Stocks (Reds and Blues, Scouse Pacific,
Little Scouse on the Prairie), Paul Duckworth (Reds and Blues,
Scouse Pacific, Slappers and Slapheads) Lenny Wood (Lost Soul, Night
Collar, Nightmare on Lime Street) and the hilarious Gillian Hardie
and Keddy Sutton (Scottie Road the Musical).
This is the 1st ever Christmas show from renowned Liverpool
playwright Dave Kirby, who also directs. Kirby's hilarious previous
hits include:- 'Lost Soul', 'Council Depot
Blues', 'Reds and Blues' and 'Brick up
the Mersey Tunnels' and his latest show Dreaming of a Barry
White Christmas promises to be the perfect way to spice up the
festive period!
Thomas Minge (Andrew Schofield) owns a small, dilapidated warehouse
in Liverpool. He despises everything; happiness, laughter, modern
music, spending money; but most of all he hates Christmas.
Meanwhile, his four drunken, dysfunctional employees can't wait to
start the festive season! When they find out they're about to be
sacked by their miserable employer they set out to discover a way to
ensure their survival. They soon uncover a few 1970's skeletons in
Thomas's dirty closet, including old platform shoes, a load of
Viagra and the mysterious Hairy Mary! The arrival of a weird
deranged tramp ensures some crazy festive hilarity!
What is Thomas Minge's secret? What is he hiding? Why does he hate
Christmas so much? Why does he regularly swill carol singers? Will
the workers escape the sack? Perhaps the legendary Walrus of Love
himself, Barry White, holds the key.
Dave Kirby said:- "Myself and the cast are already having a
great time in rehearsals and we can't wait to bring this show to the
stage in just 4 weeks' time. Tickets are already selling fast – I'd
urge you to make this show your first, your last and your everything
this Christmas!"
So don't be an old Scrooge, get yourself down to the Echo Arena this
Christmas for a Barry good time.
