LAST
week we reported that one of Europe's most historic maritime sites
is set to unveil its 1st Phase called:- 'The Titanic Hotel
Liverpool.' The completion of the £36 million transformation
of the North Warehouse at Stanley Dock, and the opening of the 153
bedroom Titanic Hotel Liverpool along with its adjoining Rum
Warehouse events and exhibition space, is set to take place in June
2014. This will be just in time for some of the major International
Festival for Business (IFB)
events that will be taking place this year. The report that can be
read by clicking on
here explained all about the
project, but we had to go and see for ourselves what had been done
on Liverpool's Stanley Dock so far. Our Editor headed over to take a
look at this exciting multi-staged redevelopment project to find out
more. As a result he has come back with some stunning video footage
and photographs of the project as it nears completion. We have also
got some photographs taken by him of the site in 1998 / 1999 to show
just what has been achieved so far. With Peel's Liverpool Waters
Project, which started with the restoration of the Bascule Bridge,
and the start of the renovations of the south part of Liverpool's
Docks, Harcourt Development and Liverpool City Council are really
starting to re-define Liverpool's Docks and bring them back to life.
We think we can say that the people in Merseyside, especially those
in Liverpool are eager to see what develops from these amazing
projects. Liverpool is in a truly unique position, as one of the
World Heritage sites, and also with its vision for the future that
combines the past in projects like this. It is hoped that it will
not just be the warmth and hospitality of the Liverpool personality
that will bring business in for Liverpool in the future, but our
ability to embrace the old and the new and use revolutionary
projects, like the Albert Dock, Liverpool One and this project to
spearhead the regions rebuilding well into the future. Please email
us your views on this development project to:-
news24@southportreporter.com Also
take a look at our video and photograph that we took on the of the
complex which shows you the hidden work being carried out on the
Titanic Hotel Liverpool, from the sumptuous luxury spa, located deep
below the building to the standard sized hotel rooms will be twice
as large as the biggest UK standard 4 Star rooms, thanks to the
unique design of the original building. That is not forgetting that
unlike many hotel groups, the architects on this rebuild have
retained, where ever possible, most of the original brick and iron
features of the warehouse. Along with the "The Rum Bar”,
the massive exhibition rooms, the start will be the construction of
the restaurant and reception. For now, all eyes are on Phrase one,
but if this is a good as it looks, Phase 2 of the Stanley Dock
Village Project when it takes place should be even more impressive!
Phase 2 aims at transforming the former Tobacco and South
Warehouses, into an innovative residential, business, retail,
educational and leisure complex.
