			 Viper 100 -
Local Record Label Hits a Century
			SEFTON Park Palm House was
the place to be on Thursday, 15 May, 2014, as Liverpool's Viper
Label celebrated its 100th record release. Viper was founded in 1999
by Paul Hemmings and Mike Badger, both formerly of cult band The
La's and boasts an impressive list of artists.
The 100th release is a compilation album containing songs from the
label's back catalogue of the past 15 years. Tracks by The Hokum
Clones, Dead Cowboys and Chris Elliot are just some of the gems to
be found on this diverse and hugely enjoyable CD. Thursday evening
welcomed a number of the album's contributors on stage beneath the
			palms of this idyllic setting.

Space front man Tommy Scott performed 'Neigbourhood'
and 'Female of the Species' with the backing of
Hemmings and Badger. There were also performances by Edgar Jones and
Matt Barton amongst others and a mesmeric set by three piece band
Aviator comprising of former Cast members Pete Wilkinson and Keith
O'Neill.  It's heartening to see a local independent label giving the
majors a run for their money whilst providing an outlet for so much
home grown talent. Here's to the next 100 releases!
