Another death on the
Merseyrail Northern Line Photos -
UK-Press-Photography.com
JUST a week after Yasmin
Jones, 22, who had just graduated from Liverpool John Moores
University with a 2:1, Drama Degree was killed by train whilst
trying to save her dog from the railway line, another incident
has happened on the same line. The latest incident on
Merseyrail's Northern Line also happened near to Freshfield
Station, but at this stage these are being treated as unrelated
incidents. British Transport Police have confirmed that a man
died near Barkfield Lane, in between Freshfield and Formby
Merseyrail Stations.
A British Transport Police (BTP)
spokesman said:- "I can confirm that the person struck and
killed by a train close to Freshfield crossing on Tuesday, 2
September 2014, was a 26 year old man from Formby. The incident
was first reported to us at 10.40am and our officers attended
alongside colleagues from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service,
North West Ambulance Service and Merseyside Police. The incident
is not being treated as suspicious and officers are compiling a
report for the coroner. The man’s family have been informed.”
Police have not released the name of the 26 year male to
the media at the time this was published.
