Southport FC Youth Match Reports
Leyland BTR v SFCY Under 18s
Southport under 18's moved to the top of Youth Division Blue with a comfortable
victory over Leyland BTR. From the 1st whistle it was all one way traffic with
the visitors in total control, midfielders David Tallant & Ben Hatch dominating
the centre of the pitch. It didn't take long for the deadlock to be broken,
striker Prince Kunzwa making it 1-0. Kunzwa added to his opener and this was
followed by a brace from fellow striker Cameron Dalgleish. Josh Bonsu and Jordan
Haskell rounded off the first half scoring to make it 6-0 at the break.
The second half was much of the same with the
home side limited to efforts on goal direct from each re-start. Midfielder Adam
Thorpe returned after a 3 month absence and he continued to confuse the BTR
defence with some sublime footwork. There were again to be 6 goals in the 2nd
half; Dalgelish & Kunzwa completed their hat-tricks, while substitute Conal
Gallagher grabbed 2 quick fire goals as well as having 2 ruled out. Midfielder
and man of the match, Ben Hatch rounded off a great display with a goal. Adam
McFarlane-Johnson rounded off the afternoon of scoring to make it 12-0 and 3
points for the visitors who go top on goal difference with 2 games in hand.
A real positive to take from the game was the
return of long-term absentees Adam Thorpe and Dan Pugh, the latter completing 90
minutes. Next up: Syndicate Trust Youth Cup Semi-Final vs Garstang @ UCLAN
Sports Arena, Sunday 15th Feb, 11am kick off.

BAE Warton v SFCY Under 17s
Southport started the game bright as they zipped the ball around the pitch. The
first chance came with in 2 mins when Connor Savage had a shot deflected wide
for a corner.
The first goal came from SFC's Joel Rea who
perfectly executed a great finish. The 2nd came from Tom Mahamotho when he
lobbed the keeper from close range after a great pass by Joel Rea.
The 3rd came from a spot kick when Paddy Doyle
made an amazing run then got brought down by a clumsy challenge which he then
slotted in to make it 3.
The 2nd half started like the first Southport
zipped the ball around with confidence but couldn't add to the scoring.
Southport now sit in a healthy position at the top of the league.

(aet – Maghull won 4-3 on penalties)
Redgate Yellow 2-4 Crosby Stuart
Formby JSC White 3-1 S&A Red
Another great game yesterday between 2 top teams. Formby probably playing some
of their best football of the season.
FJSC Whites took the lead in the 10th minute
when Dan Griffin knocked in Ben Williams cross.
On 15 minutes Jack Lemmens then scored with a
great shot from the edge of the box after a brilliant defence splitting pass
from Jamie Ditchfield. 2 – 0 at half time after some great play.
On 43 minutes FJSC Whites went 3 - 0 up with a
sublime 4 pass move from defence to attack, which in my opinion was the goal of
the season so far. Harry Forsyth chipped the ball to Tom Elder on the edge of
our own box, Tom Elder runs 40 yards past 3 players before finding Jack Lemmens
on the right wing, who then passes to the demanding Tom Elder, who rifled a shot
in the bottom corner of the net. The applause for that goal was possible heard
all over Sefton.
S & A Reds then pulled a goal back and it was
backs to the wall for a bit, but Jay Murphy went close on 2 or 3 occasions for
Formby and David Meadow in the Formby goal kept S & A at bay.
FJSC Whites now march into the Semi Finals of
the Harry Cope Cup and also sit proudly at the top of the U'11 Premiership.

Mitch Green 9-0 Mitch Red Warriors
The Greens welcomed Mitch Reds in the highly anticipated derby.
Conditions were perfect for football, cold, and no wind with a small
amount of mist in the air. The Greens were at full strength and had
14 players available for selection.
The Reds started the better, they
just couldn't find that scoring touch. Eventually Karne Green broke
the deadlock for Greens, scoring his first of the day.
A tactical change saw Owen Conteh
leave the pitch. He was replaced by Ryan Martin who had an instant
effect and would go on to score with his second touch of the ball.
It was now like a game of tennis.
Great goalkeeping and last ditch defending kept Grees in the game as
the Reds piled on the pressure in true derby style. The Reds were
unlucky to be without
in-form defender Connor Peake and that showed as the Greens were
managing to cause havoc in and around the opposition penalty box.
Karne Green found his way through the valiant Reds
defence and got his second goal before Owen Conteh, who was back on
at striker, scored a great individual goal just before half time to
make it 4-0 at the break.
As the 2nd half started, the
Greens put out a different formation. The changes were evident
almost immediately. Karne was starting to run the game and from a
great low ball from Jose Benford, Karne was able to convert and get
his hat trick.
From the kick off the Reds went
clear again but there was no one there to finish for them. Cool
passing was now the theme from the Greens. Ethan was finding through
balls and the Greens had the players in the right areas to finish.
More goals including those from
Nail Cakir. And Jose Benford punished the Reds who were looking
understandably jaded at this point.
The best goal of the day would
come from Ethan Thomas. Ethan got the ball in his own half and
started to make a powerful run all the way into the Reds penalty
area before striking the ball into the top right corner. It was a
great move and from the restart the ref blew his whistle for full
time.
Both teams should be proud of
themselves. It was a great game of football and although the
score looked one-sided that was not the case.
