Suspected firearm recovered from house in
Formby
MERSEYSIDE Police executed the warrant
at a house on Bolton Close, Formby, Merseyside, at around 11pm, on Wednesday, 25
February 2015. A full search of the property was then carried out and a small,
loaded, black handgun was recovered. As a result of the find, 3 people had been
arrested in connection with it. The handgun was then sent for further
examination and an investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the
incident is continuing.  The 18 year old man, from Southport and the 2 17
year old males, from Formby, had been arrested at the property, on suspicion of
"Possession of a Firearm" have now been released, on Police Bail,
pending further enquiries.  Detective Inspector Richie Jones, Matrix
Serious Organised Crime, said:- "The handgun that has been recovered will
be subject to further examination, but at this stage we believe it is a viable
weapon. This was an excellent find and a potentially lethal firearm has now been
taken off the streets. I would like to take this opportunity to reassure
communities throughout Sefton that we will be relentless in our efforts to
tackle serious and organised crime and bring those who use or store firearms to
justice. I'd continue to appeal to people with information about serious and
organised crime taking place where they live to contact MSOC Officers on:- 0800
230 0600. Information can also be passed to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on:-
0800 555 111." |
