See you in court!
ORMSKIRK'S Edge Hill University Law Department has opened a brand new 'Mooting Room' where law students can practise their courtroom skills. The mock courtroom is fitted with genuine courtroom furniture acquired from Southport's former Magistrates' Court and also contains over 600 law books donated to the University by Southport based Fletchers Solicitors, who are one of the UK's leading clinical negligence and serious injury law firms. Edge Hill lecturer and solicitor Robert Collinson said:- "The reputation of Edge Hill University's law degree programmes has been growing steadily. We are committed to providing students with practical and useful experiences to supplement their academic activities. This has led us to establish a pro bono legal advice centre where students, under expert supervision, provide free legal advice for the local community. The Mooting Room, complete with beautiful American oak furniture will enable the university to replicate a courtroom in which students can train and practise their mooting skills, increasing their confidence and enhancing their public speaking."
