Stem Cell Donor Registration Event for little boy ill with a blood cancer

AN event will be taking place in BACO pub in Ormskirk, for little boy who is ill with a blood cancer. It is being organized by Delete Blood Cancer UK on behalf of Finn's family, in order to sign up people to the UK Stem Cell Registry. Everyone who joins the registry could potentially save a life 1 day.  Delete Blood Cancer UK has supported the family of Finn McEwen in holding this events around Liverpool, where he is from, and beyond, to encourage people to register as potential stem cell donors. The event that will be held in BACO 17-21 Railway Road, Ormskirk next Thursday where you can find out all about becoming a donor and registering those who are interested in joining the registry.

Several fundraising activities will be taking place to raise money for Delete Blood Cancer UK from donations and fundraising activities at the event. This money will go towards the cost of recruiting new donors as the tissue typing for one potential donor costs the charity £40.

For many blood cancer patients a blood stem cell donation is often their only chance of survival. Finn, aged 7, from Liverpool was recently diagnosed with a blood disorder, Myelodysplastic Syndrome, which has no become Leukaemia. Finn now needs to find a suitable donor to help him overcome this disease.

Talking about the search for Finn, his mum Carole says:- "Finn is the most wonderful, fun-loving and caring little boy. This has turned our world upside down and all we want is for him to get better. We are so grateful to Everton Football Club and their supporters for their help. Not only have they given Finn a wonderful experience in getting to meet his heroes, which he was absolutely thrilled about, they are also helping Finn by registering as potential blood stem cell donors and by encouraging others to register as well. Everton's support has been a ray of light in a dark time."

Aga Chrosciel, Donor Recruitment Manager at Delete Blood Cancer UK, explains the impact of the event:- "At Delete Blood Cancer UK our mission is to increase the numbers of donors currently on the UK stem cell registry to ensure that everyone that needs a donor find their match. We ask everyone between the ages of 17-55, who are in good general health to come along to BACO, 17-21 Railway Road, Ormskirk next Thursday to show your support for Finn's appeal and for all those seeking a blood stem cell donation. Someone's life could depend on it."
