McCarthy and Stone's 2015 Hustings Event - Southport!

ON Friday, 24 April 2015, the 2015 General Election candidates from the Parties standing in the Southport area attended a Hustings Event at McCarthy and Stone's new development Brunlees Court, in Southport. The event was well attended and those grilling the candidates appeared to mainly be retired people, but this was not surprising considering the venue. The questions ranged from should Southport leave Sefton MBC to questions about Pensions Trust. A very interesting issue was also raised about the lack of housing for young people and the fact that this put pressure on the older population to help siblings by spending their pensions on them. Interestingly, no questions about inheritance tax where asked, but questions about support for enforces personal was also a very hot topic. The meeting did overrun slightly, and despite a slightly heated debate at the end, it was in the most part very civilised. We have got a few video clips of some of the panel at the end, asking them what they thought was the most important question of the event that affected them and their party. This was a very interesting event and we would like to say well done to McCarthy and Stone for putting it on. You can also play the footage we took asking how and why they decided to run this event on the player below. If you can't get the video to work, please use the audio player instead.
