Veterans from all over the UK
came to Southport for RBL Conference
SOUTHPORT Theatre and Convention Centre
has hosted the Royal British Legion Annual National Conference over the 16 May
to 17 May 2015, with the Standard Bearers' Competition held on Friday, 15 May
2015. The events were overseen by the RBL's President, Chairman and Director
Generals, who also addressed to conference over the 2 day event. Following the
conference on Sunday, there was a memorial parade from the Convention Centre on
to Lord Street, ending outside the Town Hall. They then held a mark of respect
at the Cenotaph on Lord Street. The event was attended by over 600 people who
also had a chance to hear Des Brown, the UK's Secretary of State for Defence,
who was the guest speaker.
The Royal British Legion was founded in 1921 as a
voice for the ex-service community and has helped people who are serving or who
have served in the Armed Forces, and their dependants and carers ever since. As
a charity the Royal British Legion provides all types of support from financial,
social and emotional support, to millions who have served and are currently
serving in the Armed Forces, along with their families. To find out more about
