Midge Ure - Breath Again
Tour, 20 years on and counting!
MIDGE Ure, the man behind the iconic
80's band Ultravox, co-creator of Live Aid, Band Aid, Live 8 together with Bob
Geldolf and currently hailed in the echelons of musical history as 1 of the men
responsible for 'Vienna', now officially the most popular and
respected record of the 80's. (As voted by Absolute Radio listeners)
Midge Ure's atmospheric and glittering career has spanned over three decades as
a former member of Thin Lizzy, Visage, Ultravox and as a solo artist, Midge has
also been a tireless campaigner for 'Save the Children', has an OBE, multiple
Brit Awards and Ivor Novello awards and once came close to winning Celebrity
Masterchef whilst enjoying his cookery hobby. A multi platinum selling artist,
Midge has a magic touch when it comes to writing hits that stand the test of
time, 'Vienna', despite only reaching number 2 in the charts
remains one of the biggest selling records of it's year of release (1981)
'Do They Know It's Christmas' is the biggest selling single in the
history of the British Charts and his single:- 'If I Was' from his
solo debut album:- 'The Gift' went straight in at number 1.
In 1995, Midge delivered his fourth solo album:- 'Breathe', to BMG
just 10 years after the phenomenal successes of Band Aid and Live Aid. Always
one to ring the changes, this album had a very Celtic feel with a plethora of
acoustic instruments from Uilleann pipes to mandolins and accordions. The title
track was picked up by Swatch watches and headed their most successful
advertising campaign ever. The album went triple platinum and was a massive
success all over Europe.
After the successful reformation of Ultravox in 2009, Midge feels it's time to
revisit his Celtic roots, and will perform 'Breathe' in its entirety for the 1st
time in 2015, ably accompanied by two musicians from India Electric Co, to
recreate the nature of the album. Of course to delight his audience, he will
also play a selection of his other hits including:- 'Vienna',
'Fade to Grey' and 'If I Was', along with songs from
his recently released album:- 'Fragile', which jumped onto the
Radio 2 playlist last year and was voted 1 of the top 10 albums of the year by
the Huffington Post.

Southport law firm's
conveyancing division reports record £3.1million growth
A high growth Southport conveyancing
business has its sights set on breaking the £10million barrier over the next 12
months after revealing record growth of £3.1m in its latest annual results. The
conveyancing division of Birchall Blackburn Law, which has offices on Cambridge
Road in Southport, says growth in the housing market has created record demand.
Conveyancing turnover from instructions across the UK has grown from £4.5million
to £7.6million, a rise of 68%, with the firm now receiving over 2,000
conveyancing instructions per month. The firm has recently launched a new
conveyancing apprenticeship scheme with Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU)
as it looks to attract new conveyancers to its 160 strong team. James Boyd,
chief executive of Birchall Blackburn Law's conveyancing team, said:-
"It's been a phenomenal year for the division, beating our target of 50% growth.
Clients want a service built on quality, speed and communication; and we have
built our entire philosophy around this. We've seen consistent growth in the
housing market for some time and with the general election done and dusted we
expect the momentum to grow. Over the past 12 months, we also formed strategic
partnerships with estate agents, mortgage brokers and finance providers. We are
in a good position to break the £10million turnover barrier by April 2016.
Demand has never been so high." The firm was recently named as 1 of
London Stock Exchange's '1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain'. Its
conveyancing division is ranked the UK's fifth largest by latest Land Registry
figures in terms of house sale and purchase transactions.
James added:- "Not only are we looking to be a UK leader in conveyancing
but we want to be an employer of choice for those seeking a career in
conveyancing at all levels. We're looking to create new jobs in the next 12
months and are currently in the midst of a significant recruitment drive."
