Spring into the Four Seasons with the Northern Chamber Orchestra
1 of the country's finest chamber
orchestras, the Northern Chamber Orchestra (NCO), 'Springs into The Four
Seasons' with popular classics at:- The Atkinson in Southport, on Saturday, 13
June 2015. The critically acclaimed Northern Chamber Orchestra (NCO), directed
by Nicholas Ward, will be giving its 1st ever concert at The Atkinson on
Saturday, 13 June 2015, 7.30pm.
The NCO is regarded as one of the country's top, professional chamber
orchestras. While it regularly performs in Cheshire and presents an annual
season in Warrington and Halton, this is the 1st time that audiences local to
Southport will have the chance to see the orchestra in action at a nearby
venue:- The Atkinson, Southport's impressive, newly refurbished multi art form
venue, in the heart of the Town.
The 'Spring into The Four Seasons' concert presents a sparkling
mix of well known, popular classics, such as Vivaldi The Four Seasons and
Jeremiah Clarke Trumpet Voluntary, along with other lovely works by great
composers; Mozart, Delius, Handel and one of the last pieces written by the
English composer and conductor, Arthur Butterworth MBE, who died in November
last year.
Jonathan Thackeray, NCO General Manager, said:- "6 NCO soloists had the
recent pleasure of performing at the Atkinson, as part of the Cake & Classical
series, but our concert on 13 June is especially exciting, in that it's the 1st
time we have given an orchestral, evening concert in this fantastic venue! We're
presenting a gorgeous programme, heralding the start of summer, with a mix of
all time classics like Vivaldi's The Four Seasons and Jeremiah Clarke's Trumpet
Voluntary, as well as others that may be slightly less well known, but are
equally enjoyable."
As well as featuring The Four Seasons (the stunning, virtuosic violin part will
be played by NCO's leader and Artistic Director, Nicholas Ward) and Trumpet
Voluntary, the 'Spring into the Four Seasons' programme also
includes Mozart's lively Divertimento in D K136, Delius' Aquarelles, which makes
gentle, calming ripples and Arthur Butterworth's touchingly reflective Elegy for
Diana. Handel's delightful, contrasting Trumpet Suite in D is performed by
former 'BBC Young Musician' finalist, and NCO's Principal
Trumpeter, Tracey Redfern.
