Southport's Tourism Office Gin Palace Take Over
ONCE the place to go to find out where to go, Southport's iconic Lord Street tourist information office is to reopen as a stylish Cafe serving specialist coffees, fine malt whiskeys and artisan gins. The beautiful mock-Victorian building will now be a destination in its own right with plans to attract the smart and cultured Southport crowd seeking a sophisticated experience from their night out. The idea for Remedy is that of 2 locals, Sarah Simcock and Susannah Porter, who'd dreamed of creating a a place where they would feel at home having a morning coffee, or evening drinks, in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Susannah, a former deputy principal of a large college and Sarah, a former high
risk safety consultant, have been working on their idea to turn it into reality
for the past 8 years. Researching their products was the fun part, as they have
tried and tested more than 50 artisan gins and hundreds of fine malts in their
bid to create the ultimate perfectionist's paradise. "Any coffee,
gin or whisky expert should appreciate the level of research we have gone into
in order to curate the ultimate experience. The work and effort that goes
into the process of producing these beautiful drinks has to be reflected in the
way we sell it. Our staff are hand picked and highly trained, the creation of
'Team Remedy' has been very important to us." says
Susannah.
Remedy opens at the beginning of July 2015.
