Southport held Armed Forces
Day 2015 event Photographs
by Patrick Trollope
SOUTHPORT'S Town Hall Gardens, on Lord
Street, was the location of the 2015 Armed Forces Day, Parade and Event, that
raised money for The Veterans Fund. The main event in Southport was held on 28
June 2015, in front of the Town Hall and Atkinson Centre, following a parade
that took place from Chapel Street then though to the Cenotaph. Organisers have
told us that the latest event was smaller than in other years, due to lack of
funds, but they had a better response and will repeated the event next year, in
the same format. The event is aimed at raising public awareness of the
contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in the Armed
forces, as well as raising funds for the charities that support them. The event
this year was again run by the local based charity:- 'The Veterans Fund'
who aim is to improve the quality of life for Armed Forces Veterans in
the Local area. This year’s event was extra special due to a Spitfire flying
making several low fly pasts. To find out more about the yearly Armed Forces Day
