Revitalise Sandpipers marks
National Paralympic Day with accessible sports day
SOUTHPORT centre's day of fun coincides
with Anniversary Games at Olympic Stadium
As Team GB's Paralympians including Hannah Cockroft and David Weir competed once
more in the Olympic Stadium during the Anniversary Games, the Revitalise
Sandpipers respite holiday centre in Southport celebrated National Paralympic
Day with a sports themed day of fun on Sunday, 26 July 2015.
Disabled guests at the centre enjoyed a day long programme of accessible
competitions and sporty fun, including Boccia, Table Tennis, Basketball and
Swimming, also sport based Wii Games and other accessible activities. The day
culminated fittingly with the awarding of medals and a traditional closing
ceremony.
Sandpipers is one of three accessible UK centres run by the national charity
Revitalise. The centre provides respite holidays, with 24 hour nursing care
on call and personal support, for disabled people and carers, together with a
wide range of accessible activities and excursions. |
