2nd Southport Cosplay
Community Event to be held in September
THE next Cosplay Community event for
Southport was held, again at the Fox and
Goose, on 4 September 2015. The first
was held on 24 July
2015, but as that was the 1st time it was
held, it was not surprising that many of those didn't come in costume because
they did not know what to dress up as. Next week we will have some ideas on what
you can do for the next event. Please remember that it's not just girls who can
dress up, this is for both men and women of all ages! Cosplay is type of
performance art, in which participants wear costumes and fashion connected with
usually a sci-fi, comic book, or anime characters. But you can also make your
own character up, based on any fictional character. Say you would like to be
Darth Vader, or Luke Skywalker, that's fine, so is Sherlock Home; it is up to
you. Some people make costumes to look 100% as authentic as the one from the
comic, film or TV show, but others have variations.
The main idea is to have fun and enjoy not
being 100% you for a time. If you want, you can also use body art to good effect
to create the character or a representation of one. Many people outside the a
sci-fi community think it is only at Halloween you can do this or at a Christmas
party, the true fact is, you can do it at anytime. Cosplay is also connected to
role play games and re-enactment societies, so it is not surprising that many of
the best scientists and even business leaders enjoy this activity. So don't be
shy, this is ideal for all ages. In fact some of the best Cosplay is done by
people over 40 years of age! So let your imagination run wild and see what you
can do. This is not just for geeks, anyone can have fun... Please come and have
a go.... If you do not have a costume, don't worry... If you have a T-Shirt with
your favourite TV show or Film on, put that on!
The night will also feature not 1 but 2 bands
as well..! Both fantastic bands...Red
Eyed Jedi and So Green.
So don't miss out on what will be a fantastic
night!
