Southport Cosplay Community Event - What will you go as?
COSPLAY is a form of acting and
also dress up, for adults and we are holding our 2nd event, in Southport, at the
Fox and Goose, on 4 September 2015, but what should you do if you do not have a
costume? Well you can buy in a costume from many places, costume
suppliers, both online and offline. In Southport, , The Geek
Pit, on Lord Street, have a
small selection of masks, as does the joke shop on Neville Street... In
Liverpool you have quite a few shops as well that you can get costumes from.
You can also get 2nd hand or brand new gear from other Cosplay fans, like those
on Facebook, for example take a look at the Cosplay Sale UK group
page.
But you do not have to spend hundreds of pounds on outfits, as you can also make
them yourself, like those on the Cosplay Sales page do. As many people who
do Cosplay, for example the Facebook Group, Cosplay North
West will tell you:-
"Cosplay is not a contest of who can be the 'best' of a certain character.
There's no Cosplay Police, so just do you and enjoy. It is all about having
fun..." Developing costumes might seem like just adults having
fun, but it is in fact a major way people get into film and TV production, also
it helps with peoples socialising skills and problem solving abilities. No
only that, but it can make you money, should you make a fantastic costume.
That could be via requests to appear at events, through to selling it should you
get fed up with it. This week we got asked why we are interested in putting on
the event. The main reasons why we are holding this event is the fact we
are being told from visitors to Southport that it's night life community has
lost it's imagination... We totally disagree and we hope you will help us prove
the critics wrong... If successful we plan to add to these events,
but only if we get your support. On the night you will be entertained by
not 1, but 2 fantastic bands, Red Eyed
Jedi and the So Green
Band.
If attending or thinking of attending, please let others know
on Facebook, via visiting the event
page.
