Local
children 'meet the milkmen' for community hero launch
A localish school, in Ormskirk has
launched a community initiative to celebrate local heroes.
Mortons Dairies, the Merseyside based dairy, kicked off the community
initiative at Halsall St Cuthbert's C of E Primary School in Ormskirk.
Milkmen from the family owned dairy arrived at the school on a traditional
milk float to educate children about the milk coming from cows, its health
benefits and also to share samples of dairy products with the children.
Mortons Dairies has been delivering milk and groceries to neighbourhoods in
Ormskirk since the 1920's.
Julian Harrison, operations director of
Mortons Dairies, said:- "We're delighted to launch this great
community initiative at St Cuthbert's. Our milkmen are usually out on the
road in the early hours and many children have never seen a real milk float
in action before. We're proud to be in local classrooms showing them what
we've been doing in their local community for many years."
Miss Leggett, teacher at Halsall St Cuthbert's, added:-
"It was
exciting for our children to meet the milkmen from Mortons Dairies and it
was a great start to our ongoing community hero initiative which also
includes the local police, fire brigade, dentists and doctors."
