What a Blast at Southport
Pleasureland's "Boo For You" Photographs by Patrick Trollope.
SPOOKPORT'S main 'Happy
Halloween' event of 2015 has been at Southport Pleasureland, whose
October motto has been:- "Where people get spooked!!!" The
"Boo For You" event started on 24 October 2015 with a fantastic, free
firework display that illuminated the theme park, with an eerie glow. Lots of
the rides in the park had operators dressed in costumes, and other workers also
walked around in interesting attire... Plus pumpkins were all over the place,
most with faces painted on them... That's not forgetting the bones, graves and
other strange things in and around the Park. This is such a fantastic thing to
see, as only a few years ago, Southport had lost this attraction, for what was
thought back then as forever. The venue was originally operated from 1913 to
2006 under the ownership of the Blackpool Pleasure Beach Company, but in 2007
Norman Wallis took over. The former company left the site in a very bad way and
since then Norman has been steadily re-building the Amusement Park.
This event was the latest of many things
Norman has been doing to attract visitors to the Park and tourists to Southport
as well. Watching families and kids of all ages at the opening night, this "Boo For You" has undoubtedly gone down well. This view has been
formed held throughout the week, and has been supported by many comments being
passed in and around the Town. However, although Halloween might be finished on
31 October, the fun is not stopping as the venue will bring the Park's year to a
close with yet another Free Firework Display on Friday, 6 November 2015. We look
forward to see what he delivers in 2016 and if you want heads up, please do
visit the Park's
website. To see all the photographs
