Opening date for The
Bold Hotel Bar and Grill is revealed
THE new owners of the Bold
Hotel
in Southport, Mikhail Investments, took ownership back in December 2015.
Then they closed the doors on 1 January 2016... So the big question on
everyone's lips over the last few weeks has been... "What's going on
behind the doors of the Bold Hotel, in Southport...?"
Most locals know that there was been a multi million Pound,
Grand Designs style refurbishment taking place, but not on what scale. With
a total transformation and a slight re-name, the new look Bold Hotel Bar and
Grill was re-opened on Saturday, 5 March 2016.
We popped on over a few days after to take a good look around
and seen how the improvement programmes has touched every corner of this
historic, landmark building. The new look is amazing, with a beautifully
styled, modern interior, lavishly furnished, Boutique style Hotel bedrooms,
a truly impressive function suite and a mouth watering menu with a
Mediterranean twist.
Rainford businessman Andrew Mikhail told us that he couldn't wait to start
work on his nostalgic purchase. He said:- "When I got it, I said that
we will be raising the bar in every way possible and the new look is just
part of it! We've put so much time and effort into really creating something
special and I look forward to our 1st summer season in Southport!"
The Bold Hotel Bar and Grill's amazing kitchen boasts a real
charcoal grill; and the talented head chef, along with his team, is planning
an affordable gastronomical experience for every customer; whether you're
joining them for breakfast, lunch or dinner, on business or for pleasure.
And his talents don't end there; the food offering for weddings and other
special occasions really will delight the taste buds.
Adam Draper, General Manager pointed out:- "this new
version of The Bold Hotel is just what we need in Southport; an elegant, yet
relaxed setting in which people can come and eat beautifully cooked,
stylishly presented food. I'm proud to be the Hotels' manager and I'm
excited to see what the future brings."
With an extensive wine list and a tempting cocktail list
you'd be forgiven for making The Bold Hotel a go-to destination for any
occasion… or just for a drink after work!
If you like horses, have you seen the unique new wooden
sculpture outside? Also talking about horses, we have also just found out,
if you are quick and want a very, very nice place for the 2016 Crabbie's
Grand National, you could be in with a change of getting a room! A few rooms
are still available at time of publication, but reservations are coming in
fast. Please email Joanne Caunce, to make your booking via:-
jo@boldhotel.com
or call:- 01704 532 578 or 07872 002 903. Do not miss out! We are told the
new website will be online very soon, as the current website still says:-
"closed for refurbishment."
Did you know?
The Bold Hotel Bar and Grill was built in 1832 and was 1st called the Bold
Arms, run by the former landlord of the Royal Hotel (Dukes Folly). It is now
a major landmark on the historic Lord Street.
It's location is at the North East side of the unique, Lord
Street,
on the junction of Lord Street, Union Street and Seabank Road. In fact you
can sit out on Lord Street, a road that inspired the Emperor of the French,
Napoleon III to replace the medieval centre of Paris with broad tree lined
boulevards, after he stayed in the Town for a brief period. So what will it
inspire you to do on your holiday or business trip?
Also did you know that the Hotel's is located in the heart of Southport,
providing a relaxing alternative to the hustle and bustle of City life, in
both Liverpool and Preston? Southport is only a 30 minute drive to Liverpool
and under an hour from Manchester? Southport Train Station, which is just a
5 minute walk from the hotel? Plus the nearest International Airport is
Liverpool Airport, and Manchester is not that far away as well!
Oddly The Bold Hotel Bar and Grill older than The Grand National! This
annual handicap steeplechase race was first run in 1839, and as we said the
building dates back to 1832. So it is fitting that it normally filled up
with horse racing enthusiasts at this time of year. Plus it's a major
location for professional golfers to stay at when the Open Golf and other
golfing events take place in the area. So keep an eye out, as you never know
who you might see at this venue!
Did you know that Mikhail Investments have already made their mark on the
hospitality industry? They are now capitalising on the success of their 1st
venture in this market, the highly acclaimed Eccleston Arms Bar & Grill in
St Helens; which is widely regarded as being the very best in the St Helens
area...
We will be heading back very soon to do a very special
report at the Bold Hotel Bar and Grill, so keep your eyes on here for more
information! |

LJLA responds to
Scottish Government plans to cut APD by 50%
THE Scottish Government is taking
forward plans for a Scottish replacement to Air Passenger Duty (APD) and on
14 March 2016, they launched a consultation seeking views on how a Scottish
replacement to APD should be structured and operated from 1 April 2018,
which will subsequently reduce the Tax by 50%. Responding to the draft
legislation a Liverpool John Lennon Airport spokesperson commented:-
"The Airport welcomes the opportunity to participate in this consultation
and will continue to highlight that APD remains a barrier to airline growth
in the UK as has been recognised by the Scottish Government. If there are to
be cuts in APD of 50% at airports in Scotland, then these need to be matched
elsewhere across the UK. We would hope that sense will prevail and that the
UK Government would subsequently ensure a consistent charging regime across
all parts of the UK, so as not to put airports such as Liverpool at a
disadvantage compared to those in Scotland, and to airports across Europe
where aviation taxes are already significantly lower than in the UK."
