Local community champion is
celebrating 20 years at Southport supermarket
THIS April Anna Ingram is celebrating
20 years working for her local Southport supermarket. Anna began working for
Morrisons in 1996 while she was training to be a teacher and 20 years on remains
a valued colleague and well known fundraising figure in the local community.
In August 2013 Anna took on the additional role of representing Morrisons as a
Community Champion, supporting local causes and Morrisons' national charity
partner, Sue Ryder. She said:- "I get to meet lots of lovely people and my
colleagues are always keen to support a good cause. Their faith in my ideas
means they often snowball into fantastic fundraisers. I have lots of favourite
moments; organising a teddy bears picnic with a local play centre, attending the
Queens garden party at Buckingham Palace and reaching a Guinness World Record
for the fastest time to scan and pack 12 items, just 18.65 seconds, which was a
huge achievement and great fun. We even had a flash mob in store which the
customers loved! As I have become more recognised locally as a Community
Champion I have found it easier to gain local support for my fundraising which
has helped to promote the work of Sue Ryder. Sue Ryder is an amazing cause and
it's great having a national partner we can support. Sadly I lost my father in
January to dementia, and this has largely been my inspiration to help raise
money."
So far, Morrisons' 'Proud to Raise a Smile' partnership with Sue
Ryder has raised almost £5 million. It has funded new community healthcare
services, family support teams and Sue Ryder's Online Community and Support (Sueryder.Org/Support),
providing incredible care to patients and their families.
