THE Woodvale Rally takes place over 18 June to 19
June 2016, when hundreds of visitors are expected to flock to the Victoria Park
showground, in Southport. This year organisers have once again secured a wide
range of attractions for enthusiasts, collectors and those looking for a fun
filled, value for money weekend. And they are delighted that the model aircraft
will be returning to the event. The Liverpool and District Model Aircraft
Society (LADMAS) will have model planes flying on both days from 10am, until
4.30pm. There will also be static models on display and flight simulators so
visitors can fly the models on 3 TV screens. A large model Lancaster plane and
other jets will also be taxiing twice a day and jet engines will also be
running, but sadly they can't fly due to CAA rules.
Peter Wood, Rally general manager, said:- "We are so pleased the model
aircraft are coming back to the show after a 2 year break. They will put on a
great display with lots for the public to see and try out. We have found
Victoria Park to be the perfect venue for the show with its excellent layout and
facilities. The event is a great value day out which truly caters for all the
family. We look forward to welcoming the crowds once again this weekend."
Believed to be the oldest surviving Vulcan motorcar in the world will also be
making a nostalgic trip back to its hometown when it goes on display at the show
on Sunday. The Vulcan Motor and Engineering Company manufactured the 10hp,
twin cylinder model with 2 seats in Southport in 1904.
A 1907 Paterson, which has won the car section before, will also be on display
along with other classic and vintage cars, model trains and boats, stationary
engines, classic and vintage motorcycles and clubs and more military vehicles
than ever before.
The main arena will see Jema Leopold with her amazing performing horses and
martial arts displays. The West Lancashire Dog Display Team will also be showing
the crowds just what they can do with two shows on both day.
The always popular Crazy Bears; Sweet tooth, Candy, Honey, Popsy, Rocky and
Smarty will also take to the stage to entertain the children.
Other attractions include giant slides, craft and food marquee, giant car boot,
collectors fair, Morris dancing and numerous trade stands.
And the 125 Field Company, Army Reserves of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical
Engineers (REME), a Merseyside unit that specialises in vehicle maintenance,
will also be running workshops.
This year will also see many bands performing including Mike Byrne and the
Sunrockers, Skelmersdale Prize Brass Band and in the bar marquee there will be
music all weekend.
Miss Liverpool - Molly Mcentee-Morris, Miss Liverpool Region - Elle Ward and
also Miss Southport - Chloe Brown, will all be attending over the weekend, so
please keep an eye out for them...
Parking will just cost you £2, at Princes Park and admission will be paid
seperatly, at the show gates, £5 for adults, £2 for children aged 5 to 15; with
the under 5's are free...
