Star Wars in a Rocket Tower
at a Space Centre
ON Saturday, 25 July 2016, we got
invited to the
National
Space
Centre, in Leicester. The venue is located
on the banks of the River Soar on the A6 and the UK's largest attraction
dedicated to space. So why did we pop down? Well the visitor attraction is
currently exhibiting one of Liverpool Museum (NMGM) exhibits, the Blue Streak
rocket. The Blue Streak is currently on a long term lone to the Center and can
be found in the Space Centre's futuristic Rocket Tower. The British rocket can
be found located next to an Apollo Fuel Cell (on loan from the Smithsonian
Institute.) 41 metre high "Rocket Tower", that was designed by
Nicholas Grimshaw and Partners architects, of London, dominates the local
skyline and gave an amazing back drop to the other reason we attended. The venue
was to host a Star Wars event called:- 'Return of the Garrison'
with The UK Garrison, that was held over 25 June to 26 June 2016. This event was
a warm up for the Celebration Europe (or should that be Celebration London?) It
had the fantastic it features Julian Glover, Warwick Davis and other VIPS....
The event had lightsaber fighting and training, props and lots of other
interesting things. Not only that but the venues real space stuff meant it was
probably the ultimate family and fan weekending we have been to. Just being set
name of the venue is perfect, and that's not even taking in to account the venue
its self for this science fiction event. Those of you who attended also got to
also got to meet:- Chloe
Bruce and former Nickelodeon personality
Jonathan
Thompson, supplied the computer games
for the event. Also fans got a heads up that he is currently working on a
new TV project. Even if star Wars is not your thing, this huge event had
something for nearly everybody. Add to that, that is was for charity too, meant
it was even more interesting... Yes the Dark Side really does have a heart; just
don't tell Darth Vader... We will soon be bringing you some fantastic news very
soon about an event in a Town not so far away from you! If you have not yet
visited the University of Leicester's National Space Centre, it is worth a
visit, even when the UK Garrison event is not taking place... Click
