Survey
will help outline the road ahead
LOCAL people are being asked for their views on Wirral's highways and
transport services; from the condition of roads and footpaths to the quality of
cycling facilities and bus services.
Their answers will be compared with the views of other members of the public
across England and Scotland, thanks to the National Highways and Transport
Public Satisfaction survey.
Wirral is one of 106 local authorities to sign up to a standardised survey that
will ask members of the public exactly the same questions, wherever they are in
the country. Residents selected to take part will have already received their
questionnaires and they are urged to return them as soon as possible. The
closing date is 19 August 2016.
The survey, which is being run for the ninth year is the largest collaboration
between local authorities offering the opportunity to compare results, share in
best practice and identify further opportunities to work together in the future.
The questionnaire has gone to a random sample of at least 3,300 of Wirral
residents. Local and national results will be published in mid-October 2016.
Residents that receive the questionnaire can complete the survey on line if they
prefer, a short website URL link will be printed on the front of the
questionnaire and they will be required to enter a code before completing the
questionnaire.
The results will enable the National Highways and Transport (NHT) Network to
find out what people in your area think about these important services. This
will provide 1 of several ways Wirral can assess how it is performing. It
gives the public an opportunity to say which services they think the Council
should prioritise and improve.
Cllr Stuart Whittingham, Wirral Council Cabinet member for Highways and
Infrastructure, said:- "There are clear benefits to this public survey; it
is a key measure in our pledge to continue to improve transport, as set out in
our Connecting Wirral Transport Strategy. It enables the Council and its
partners to shape local priorities and let us know what residents think about
issues in Wirral. We look forward to looking at the survey's findings and acting
upon them to make local improvements based on what's important to residents." |
