Cake'
THE Masons Arms, on Anchor Street,
Southport, have raised over £300 for MacMillan
Nurses, on Friday, 16 September 2016. The
classic pub hosted a:- 'Cake and Coffee' event, which started at
around 11am and finished late in the evening. "We would like to thank all
who attended the event and helped us to support this amazing charity in the
process. MacMillan provides specialist services that make all the difference to
so many. Their nurses, who have specialist qualifications and skills in cancer
care, are extremely important to patient well being. That is why we often hold
fundraising events for them and we look forward to supporting them and their
events in the future..." said the Pub's Landlady, Brenda.
If you do not know already, Macmillan qualified nurse help people
living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and
emotional support. If you want to contact the Southport Macmillan
Information and Support Centre, it's worth noting that since 6 September 2016,
they are now at a new location, on Stanley Street, PR9 0BY. The Centre offers
free advice, help and support to anyone affected by cancer, including family and
friends.

Simply Red Celebrate 25th
Anniversary of 'Stars' tour is heading to Liverpool
THE amazing Simply Red will be taking
their classic album:- 'Stars' on the road, in November, for what
will undoubtedly be 1 of the highlights of the year. The 1st
½ of this special show will feature hits and classic Simply Red songs
with the 2nd ½ featuring the entire:- 'Stars'
album, in its original running order. Tickets for these must see shows are on
sale now.
'Stars' was released on 30 September 1991 and was the best selling UK
album for 2 consecutive years, 1991 and 1992, a feat that hasn't been repeated
since. It was their 4th album and the 1st to feature a collection of songs
written entirely by Mick Hucknall, for which he received an:- 'Ivor
Novello Award' for 'Best Songwriter' of the Year in 1991,
in addition to a 'Brit Award' for 'Best British Band'
that same year.

Armed Robbery Bargain Booze Lydiate
MERSEYSIDE Police Detectives, working
in the Sefton area, are appealing for information following a robbery at an off
licence, in Lydiate, Merseyside, on Friday, 24 September 2016.
Shortly after 8.30pm, 2 men, who are believed to have been armed with a handgun
and knife, walked into Bargain Booze on Liverpool Road, Lydiate, and threatened
staff before demanding cash from the till. They escaped with the cash and were
seen to get into a red Honda Civic that had been parked on Barnes Drive. The car
was driven off at speed towards Ormskirk Road.
The offender, believed to be in possession of a gun, was wearing a sky blue polo
shirt, a baseball cap and a scarf over his face.
The 2nd male, who is believed to have been in possession of a knife, was wearing
a black anorak with the hood closed up over his face and black gloves.
Detective Inspector Mike Dalton, said:- "This was a very frightening
incident for the staff who were working in the store at the time. Thankfully
they weren't injured during the incident, but they were extremely distressed. I
would like to reassure people who live locally that we are doing everything we
can to arrest those responsible. I would appeal to anyone who saw anything which
may help our inquiries, or who recognises the descriptions of the offenders, to
get in contact with us as soon as possible."
