Armed Robbery Bargain Booze Lydiate
MERSEYSIDE Police Detectives, working
in the Sefton area, are appealing for information following a robbery at an off
licence, in Lydiate, Merseyside, on Friday, 24 September 2016.
Shortly after 8.30pm, 2 men, who are believed to have been armed with a handgun
and knife, walked into Bargain Booze on Liverpool Road, Lydiate, and threatened
staff before demanding cash from the till. They escaped with the cash and were
seen to get into a red Honda Civic that had been parked on Barnes Drive. The car
was driven off at speed towards Ormskirk Road.
The offender, believed to be in possession of a gun, was wearing a sky blue polo
shirt, a baseball cap and a scarf over his face.
The 2nd male, who is believed to have been in possession of a knife, was wearing
a black anorak with the hood closed up over his face and black gloves.
Detective Inspector Mike Dalton, said:- "This was a very frightening
incident for the staff who were working in the store at the time. Thankfully
they weren't injured during the incident, but they were extremely distressed. I
would like to reassure people who live locally that we are doing everything we
can to arrest those responsible. I would appeal to anyone who saw anything which
may help our inquiries, or who recognises the descriptions of the offenders, to
get in contact with us as soon as possible."
