UB40 have just played at
Liverpool O2 Academy
Photographs below by
Jo
Forrest.
THE Birmingham legends UB40 took their reggae to Liverpool's O2 Academy,
on Sunday, 9 October 2016, to deliver an incredible show. The band formed in
1978 and have never looked back... They produced the greatest reggae albums ever
released by a British band and achieve sales of over 100 million records. This
band always makes a very special atmosphere with it's distinctive sound at gigs.
This and the tunes have make UB40 1 of the most successful British groups of all
time and they can still deliver. No other band in the world can replicate the
sound of UB40's original rhythm section of Earl and Jimmy, and at the show you
could see and hear why. These are a few pictures take by Jo Forrest at the gig.
If you missed them, you might be able to see them at one of the other venues
left on the tour... See the bands
website for more information.
Ed Harcourt to support
Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats on UK Tour
THE 1 and only Ed
Hardcourt has released 1 of the albums of 2016.
Furnaces has been hailed unanimously by the critics as the record of his career.
Ed releases the latest track taken from it:- 'Loup Garou'
impacting 18 November 2016, on Polydor Records. Working closely with legendary
producer Flood, (Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey and Foals),
'Furnaces' is Ed's most ambitious and abrasive album to date and 'Loup
Garou' is 1 of its many highlights. The track was inspired by Charles
Mackay's book Extraordinary Popular Delusions & The Madness of Crowds. Ed
explains:- "a 'Loup Garou' was known in France as a werewolf. People in
villages would accuse the local hermit or village idiot of being a shapeshifting
demon, blaming them for savagely murdering their children or causing plagues or
illnesses. Loup Garous had nails driven into them for punishment and as such it
could have much in common with the current public shaming that exists on social
media." After 4 blistering shows in 2 weeks at Glastonbury,
headlining The Deaf Institute and The Borderline and the 2nd stage in Hyde Park
supporting Carole King, Ed played a stunning full band show at a packed out
Village Underground last week to rave reviews. His next jaunt will be a rawkus
affair as support for 1of the breakout bands of 2016, Nathaniel Rateliff and The
Night Sweats.
Ed plays the following venues on the following dates:-
► 18 October 2016, in LONDON, Roundhouse (Music Venue
Trust show)
► 19 October 2016, in LONDON, Proud (Big Issue's 25th
Anniversary)
► 4 November 2016, in CARDIFF, Brickstock Festival
► 9 November 2016, SOUTHAMPTON, O2 Guildhall
► 10 November 2016, LEEDS, O2 Academy
► 11 November 2016, GLASGOW, Barrowlands
► 12 November 2016, GLASGOW, Barrowlands
► 14 November 2016, BIRMINGHAM, O2 Academy
► 15 November 2016, LONDON, Brixton Academy
► 17 November 2016, LEICESTER, DeMonfort Hall
► 18 November 2016, MANCHESTER, O2 Apollo
► 19 November 2016, BRISTOL, Colston Hall
► 20 November 2016, NORWICH, UEA
(Supports Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats, from 9 November 2016)
Ed will also play a solo show alongside Everything Everything and Public Service
Broadcasting (with more acts to be announced shortly) at the Roundhouse, on the
18 October 2016, for an event in support of the Music Venue Trust. Despite
his busy year, Ed has also launched a series of podcasts in which he interviews
some of his collaborators including Paloma Faith, The Libertines,
'Furnaces' producer Flood and 'Furnaces' cover artist
Ralph Steadman. You can download from iTunes or listen on Soundcloud. See Ed's
website for more details. Did you know that:- Ed Harcourt has enjoyed a
truly unique career as a songwriter, producer and musician. Having previously
released 6 critically acclaimed albums, he also wrote and performed:- 'The
Way That I Live', the soundtrack to Burberry's 2014/15 festive campaign,
which has garnered over 25 million streams?
Midge Ure head to Liverpool
on UK tour
MIDGE
Ure has a career that spans over 40 years –
from his "pop band2 beginnings, “almost” joining the
Sex Pistols, the electronic groundbreaking work with Visage (Fade To Grey is
still voted #1 in its genre across Europe) via the mainstream success of
Ultravox to the twists and turns of his solo releases. In 2015, Midge Ure and
semi acoustic duo, India Electric Company successfully presented the
"Breathe Again" show in the UK, and across Denmark, Germany and Italy as
a 20th anniversary retrospective. It was the 1st time that Midge featured an
"album in its entirety" and it proved to be a successful format!
For these shows, the plan is to touch on the broad reach of his recorded output
with the “Something From Everything Tour”..... a show that covers
at least one song from every album he has released from the Rich Kids in 1977,
via Visage and Ultravox, to his solo albums such as the Gift, Pure and Answers
to Nothing. Once again utilizing the three piece format which adds texture
and depth to the material, this time Joseph O'Keefe will be adding keyboards to
the mixture providing a more electronic nature to some of the songs. A show that
will appeal to both the hit-conscious customer and the long term fan looking for
something unusual played live with all the usual commitment… So there you have it. The "Something from Everything"
Tour, performed in a format that will provide the framework of texture and
diversity without detracting from the essence of the most important factor...
the songs! This tour will be stopping off at The
Epstein Theatre, Liverpool, on Sunday, 23 October 2016. To book tickets call:-
0844 888 4411 or visit the Theatre's Box Office
website. |
