A dazzling display of talent and
fantastic lights at this year's Formby Light Switch On, with lots of interesting
things to do and see.
The village centre was again taken over by a massive crowd who came out to enjoy
what is one of, if not the best Switch On party on Merseyside, that is solely
organised and run by local people and businesses.
Taking to the stage was the Formby Brass Band, who blasted out many classic
numbers next to a model train... Also the Village had a massive snow globe, a
selection of stalls and fun fair rides.
On the main stage was Sandgrounder Radio's Neil Newton, with his team, who
broadcasted live, from the far end of Chapel Lane. Joining them where a host of
talents, from Giant Puppets, Vocal Range, Nicola Hardman singers and Make Noise
2 and lots more...
On the night as the big push of the button came close, the awards for Best
Formby Teacher 2016, was announced... Well done to Miss Blair from St Jerome's
School, Formby. You can see it being awarded on our Facebook
Page, as well as some
other video highlights.
After a warm up thanks to the fantastic voice and stage presence of Hayley
Murray, the moment came... The big Switch On with BGTs Steven Hall and of course
the multi talented Ray Quinn!! Both preformed before pressing the big button... Ending the night was the G-Force Choir with a performance of classic Christmas
carols and hymns.
Sadly, many where disappointed not to see a much loved attraction to be switched
on. Yes, we are talking Frosty Gate! Sadly the team have been told they cannot
put up the beloved Frosty the Snowman, due to Health and Safety concerns raised
by a local Parish Councillor, to Sefton MBC. To find out more see our YouTube
video, and to join the
campaign visit our Facebook
