Unwrapped - A free, hour ong taster!
SCOTTISH Opera's hit production of The
Marriage of Figaro, directed by the great British baritone Sir Thomas Allen, is
coming to Liverpool's Empire Theatre for 2 performances only, on 5 January and 7
January 2017. In addition, the company are offering a
FREE event that gives an insight into the show and how it was
created.
The Marriage of Figaro features beautiful period designs by Simon Higlett,
providing the backdrop to this timeless comedy of social revolution and change.
The Marriage of Figaro tells the story of Count Almaviva; a once charming, he
has become a scheming bully who spends his days pestering the serving girls.
Figaro, his head of staff, is engaged to Susanna, but Almaviva has a particular
soft spot for her and is doing everything he can to delay their wedding?
The role of Figaro is performed by former
Scottish
Opera
Emerging Artist Ben McAteer (The Devil Inside 2016) and he is joined by Lucy
Hall as Susanna and Jette Parker Young Artist Samuel Dale Johnson as Count
Almaviva. The exciting cast is conducted by Timothy Burke.

taster from Scottish Opera, on 6 January 2017, at 6pm.
Presented from the stage by Assistant Director Rebecca Hanbury, The Marriage of
Figaro Unwrapped features:- singers, back stage crew and The Orchestra of
Scottish Opera. You'll hear highlights from the music and be introduced to the
principal characters from the opera, the plot and some key scenes. You'll also
find out more about the props, costumes, lighting and direction, as well as some
of the theatrical secrets behind the production.
