Man arrested in Formby following
firearms incident in Bootle

MERSEYSIDE Police has arrested a man
on suspicion of possession of a firearm and assault following an incident in
Bootle, on Wednesday, 19 April 2017. We have been informed that Merseyside
Police Officers were called to Miranda Road, Bootle, shortly before 11am,
following a report that a man had assaulted a woman. A short time later the same
man was reported to be carrying what appeared to be a firearm at the junction of
Bedford Road and Miranda Road. The man then made off in a silver coloured car,
in the direction of Stanley Road. Specialist Police Officers were deployed
and a search of the area took place. Later a 45 year old male, from Formby, was
arrested, in Formby, on suspicion of possession of a firearm. During the arrest
a section of road, between the Railway Pub and of Formby Street, between and
Raven Meols Lane was closed off. Anyone who has any information about
