MERSEYSIDE Police Detectives have
issued CCTV images of 2 males, following reports of an attempted robbery at a
jewellers, in Southport, on Wednesday, 31 May 2017, at around 9.35am. We
are told that 2 males had entered Prestige Diamonds, on Lord Street, by Costa
Coffee, and the shops staff were concerned about the behaviour of them.
The staff then activated a fogging device and we are told that an unknown
substance was then sprayed in the shop and the 2 then left the shop. It is not
believed anything was taken. Following the incident a member of staff was taken
to Hospital as a precaution, sue to a substance being reported to have been
sprayed. The staff member was later allowed home, with sore eyes, but no
permanent damage. Detectives have issued the CCTV stills of 2 males who they
believe could help them with their enquiries.
Detective Inspector Robbie Moss said:-
"We would ask anyone who recognises either of the 2 men, or the men themselves,
to come forward, as we believe they may have information which could help with
our enquiries. I would also continue to appeal for anyone who was in the
vicinity of Lord Street, who may have seen anything suspicious, to contact us.
It would have been busy in the area at the time and members of the public may
have seen the 2 men either close to the shop prior to the incident or leaving
the area afterwards."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police on:- 0151 777 3847
or the Crimestoppers line anonymously on:- 0800 555 111.
