A Wirral author is creating some
Halloween fun for grown ups after hiding copies of her latest ghost
novel at 2 different iconic landmarks. Estelle Maher, author of Amazon
Bestseller Grace and the Ghost, has hidden copies of her debut novel at the
Mersey Ferry Terminal and Birkenhead Library and she hopes people will join in
the Halloween fun by going to search for them over the next few days.
The 45 year old author has made the books a bit more difficult to find by
wrapping them in brown paper with a handwritten message on the front:- 'Don't
Judge Me by My Cover.' A tag attached to the book asks whoever finds it to
take the 'fun and spooky' book home to read.
Estelle said:- "I just thought it would be a nice idea to give grown ups
in the area something fun to do this Halloween. Most Halloween events are geared
towards children but you're never too old to have a bit of fun. The books are
not hidden in obvious places so people will have to look quite hard to find
them. I hope then, whoever finds a copy of the book will take it home, have a
good read of it and then return the book to where they found it either at the
Mersey Ferry Terminal or Birkenhead Library ready for the next person."
Instructions of what to do with the book once it's found are written inside the
front cover and Estelle hopes the books will be returned many times over for
different people to find and read.
She said:- "Since Grace and the Ghost was published earlier this year the
book has been on quite a journey. Readers have posted pictures on my Facebook
page of them reading the novel in locations all over the world. It's been really
fun to see where the book might appear next.
I thought by hiding the books more locally with a message 'Don't Judge Me By My
Cover' it might encourage people to read something a bit different and try out a
genre they might not normally choose if they were purchasing a book.
Coinciding it with Halloween adds a bit of extra fun and makes sense given the
book is about a ghost and I really hope people will enjoy taking part. I'm
asking those who find the book to post a picture of it on my Facebook page and
it will be really exciting to see how long we can keep it going. Who knows
people might still be taking it home to read come Halloween 2018."
Grace and the Ghost was published in paperback format in April followed by an
E-book version in May and both became Amazon Bestsellers within a matter of
weeks.
Estelle, who published the book with the support of Team Author UK, is currently
in the midst of penning a sequel:- 'Angels Rebellion' which will be published in
Spring 2018.
